This could easily have been a “Hypocrite of the Day” as there was a time when Candidate Obama thought it was just plain wrong to penalize people who didn’t have (or couldn’t afford) health insurance. See Massachusetts…

Sen. John Ensign (R-Nev.) received a handwritten note Thursday from Joint Committee on Taxation Chief of Staff Tom Barthold confirming the penalty for failing to pay the up to $1,900 fee for not buying health insurance. Violators could be charged with a misdemeanor and could face up to a year in jail or a $25,000 penalty.
The following is one of my oldest and proudest B&R-ism, “Liberals come up with programs so wonderful, they have to force you to use them.”
Again, I rest my case.

Unconstitutional. Period.
But then, the yahoos in Washington D.C. aren’t paying much attention to the Constitution lately, are they?

All you have to do is use their word against them. This bill is the gift that keeps on giving. Here we are a couple of months down the road and items are stilll being pulled out of it. This whole administration is about the hard sell with one-way feedback. These guys are like the salesman who gives you a brief glimpse of the contract and closes you before you know what you bought.
They didn’t seem to be crazy for the public option as applied to them, though. That tells me all I need to know.
Exploit some to help others… Slavery by any other name.
Obama: I will not raise taxes on American citizens.
(If you have to look it up, then you’re stretching a little bit right now.)
This is true, because Democrats believe they are raising revenue.
I believe we should have social programs with definite goals, and accountability, to help people when they falter; but, we should not be forced to carry people through their lives. The burden of proof lies with the recipient.
