We began to write the song after watching the Inauguration.
We?
As the song took shape, the children became more and more proud of their accomplishment. It soon morphed into a tribute to MLK and others honored for their work towards social justice.
Third graders have traditionally been aware of “ground shifts” and been activists for “social justice”.

Disturbing on SO many levels. Isn’t racism the discrimination of someone based on the color of your skin? Oh, no, checked my son’s school issued “student dictionary” (wish I was kidding, but this is what it really says)” Racism – [rey-siz-uhm] noun- narrowmindedness, intolerance, bigotry.” So, nope, no racism here. (And yes, the school gave my son that dictionary to help his education.) Dear Lord, please help us all.
Anybody else notice Cesar Chavez being hailed in the same line up as Martin Luther King, Jr & Gandhi? Yeah, that’s brilliant…
where are the white kids? does this school not allow white Kids? together (except for whitey) we can!
