Bob On CNN… Almost

CNNI got an email from a nice producer requesting I appear on CNN at 12:30pm EST to discuss Paul Krugman’s latest op-ed, The Town Hall Mob. Unfortunately because of distance, it wasn’t possible, but she’ll keep me in mind for future rebuttals.

But while we’re on the topic, let’s look at Krugman’s latest take on the “town hall mob”…

Some commentators have tried to play down the mob aspect of these scenes, likening the campaign against health reform to the campaign against Social Security privatization back in 2005. But there’s no comparison. I’ve gone through many news reports from 2005, and while anti-privatization activists were sometimes raucous and rude, I can’t find any examples of congressmen shouted down, congressmen hanged in effigy, congressmen surrounded and followed by taunting crowds.

And I can’t find any counterpart to the death threats at least one congressman has received.

Getting shouted down sucks, doesn’t it Paul? Clearly, an unwelcome shoe-on-the-other-foot moment.

Let’s get back to reality here.

Besides the fact Mr. Krugman accidentally omitted the activities of organized groups like Code Pink, Act-Up, MoveOn.org, PeTA, assorted anarchists, and ACORN who recently conducted bus tours of the homes of American citizens’ for the purpose of humiliation and/or intimidation, he’s right; congressmen haven’t suffered that kind of indignity recently.

Had he looked beyond 2005, he might have recalled the public calls for the deaths of those involved in the Clinton impeachment. From my recollection, Henry Hyde was a congressman and Alec Baldwin wanted him stoned to death and the wives and children of other Republicans killed. I know that’s an insignificant point, which is probably why Mr. Krugman ended his search at 2005.

Fuck BushBut like most elites, they believe the lower classes should just put tails between legs and accept the benevolence of their dictates. Any conservative dissent is always considered disruptive, while anti-war protesters with “Fuck Bush” signs were always considered protected, patriotic free speech. So of course, Krugman has real problems with anyone who protests those with whom he agrees.

I say, grow the fuck up, Paul. (That’s protected free speech.)

The American people are open to change, but traditionally it’s been change that’s been in baby steps and can be reversed if the intended results aren’t achieved. This health care bill is still a work in progress, and as people read more of it, they are not liking what they’re discovering, especially where it’s going to be imposed in one fell swoop. Krugman, like most elitists, believe the American people should just shut up and take what the government is giving them (for their own good), that is, when it’s a Democrat government doing the giving.

And the nerve of The Mob to make congresspersons uncomfortable, heaven forbid, threaten to toss them out of office next fall and render The Messiah powerless.

That’s what this is all about. The problem is that the left has never learned about the whole catching-more-flies-with-honey thing. Instead, they have this psychotic notion that by insulting us, we’ll just back off, apologize, and allow our minds to be righted.

That psychosis will be their undoing. Nice try, Paul.

How dare we hold our public servants accountable for their words and actions. What is this, a land of laws and rights? Stupid Constitution, always gets in the way of “progress.”

Note to Krugman and our public servants: Not all Americans are ignorant of history and present-day events. Not all Americans will accept “emotional appeals” in support of your policies. Not all Americans are ignorant of human nature. Not all Americans will submit to control by “elite” superiors. You could have done far better than the “worst and dimmest” you chose to impose your agendas. The only people fooled are the members of your hive. Fortunately, the majority will not willingly comply with your orders of disharmonious assimilation. What you are witnessing, is the inevitable resistance to rule by the “elites.”

I for one, believe the people have acted with dignity and patience. In the past, members of the “elite” were not treated with nearly so great respect, and often they suffered the worst of fates. You may try to neutralize your competition, deprive the people of their wealth; but, we will not simply hand it to you or your minions. Too many people have knowledge of something better and they will not regress to what was.

You should (IMHO) have inserted “sometimes” in that sentence. Why? Because most times the changes made in our government stick and not only stick but grow like a often watered weed.

I won’t list these small baby steps that have turned into giant governmental programs or departments that have eroded our Republic. They are easy enough to reference.

    A word on that:

Now we are at the point where all of the years we neglected and forgot our responsibilities to our Republic are going to finally allow the complete destruction of our Republic as we know it. That “change” is seen to be best by those in power now. Not only best but what they have worked toward for years and years. They are truly the enemies of our Republic and of Americans.

Concerning Krugman. I think that ridicule and personal attacks against him are what are needed. Somehow he has fell into a postition of knowing all or being someone that the left (and others) go to when they want their answers broadcast over the truth. Kinda like a town cryer that is on the dole.

Anyway, anybody that plays Americans as so stupid as he does, deserves ridicule par deluxe.

Like the MSM would have reported it if Republicans had even been bitching about it. Right. Plus, the right is used to the shout-downs and disruptions, and they’re aren’t gonna be a bunch of pussies and cry about it anyway.

The left is just super-pissed the tables are being turned on them, and it’s working.

    Papa Ray:

You’re right. Sudden or big changes in a system, more often than not, result in an unstable system, and inevitably result in its collapse or explosion. Scientists, engineers, and many lay people understand this; but, apparently, many politicians do not.

There is something else that all people should keep in mind:

Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.

A lot of idealists and uninformed forget that advice. Every generation seems to forget and proclaim superior knowledge and capability beyond their predecessors. There is one substantiated “theory of evolution,” which involves the development of ideas and processes.

    Hoss:

the right is used to the shout-downs and disruptions

Their PC tactics have served us well. They really thought that people would simply submit to their will. They are adapting, but not before people observed their true nature.

  5. Sayers Says:

Bob, be careful when those CNN guys want you to come be on TV. I have heard Rush say he refuses to do those shows now because the producers were never honest with him about what they are talking about and who they will be talking to in the past. They would purposely mislead him about those things to try to make him look unprepared and uninformed.

I know you can handle them but just be on your guard. ;)

Ever stop to consider that every damn one of ‘em knows that and it is exactly what they are about?

They want this nation to fail.

    Period.

  7. Bob Says:

Thanks Sayers, but I can go “off topic” with the best of ‘em.

  8. Nicolas Says:

that’s good to know, bob. If you do go on CNN again, via satellite or in person, keep the interviewer in check and on THEIR heels, THAT will be some Must-See-TV :)

    The Machine:

    I am a cynic, not a doomsayer.

I do not believe “it can’t happen here,” for I know it “has happened before.”

However, I hope you’re wrong. This nation really does represent something better.
