"Liberal journalist shocked teacher unions shield incompetence" I was shocked the first time I heard about New York teachers' incompetence; I think it was in the early '90s when many couldn't pass a basic skills test in the subjects they taught. But here's what I don't understand: I'm renewing my professional certification and I have to have been teaching classes, not just showing up for work! Plus, the "highly qualified" restriction in the No Child Left Behind Act made a lot of our older teachers retire because of the extra classes, tests, etc. How are these "rubber room" teachers able to renew their certification, let alone jump through the hoops to make them highly-qualified? Obama’s labor secretary lets union officials off transparency hook "Five bucks to see a president" Too bad it didn't include a dunk-tank. He'd have sold more tickets. I wonder what Canadians thought of his talk about climate change in the midst of one of the coolest summers on record in Ontario. "Interrogating the CIA" I hope the CIA leaks the president's birth certificate and university grades, just for starters. :) "Where Have All the Ladies Gone?" What's prudish about advising conservative women to refrain from a) posting compromising photos on the Internet, b) dressing provocatively in the workplace, and c) referring to themselves or their female friends as "sluts" or "hos" or "cunts"? You'd think that people would know those things, but they don't. At my old workplace, two managers used to give the interns, in addition to the serious info, an article from VIBE about how to dress and behave at work.
