Why is CNN promoting right-wing paranoid conspiracy theories about President Obama’s birth certificate?
The fringe ideas of the so-called “birthers” have been thoroughly debunked. But CNN host Lou Dobbs perpetuates these myths by constantly talking about them on his shows and asserting that Obama still needs to “produce a birth certificate.”

And c’mon. Who are the left to lecture anyone about conspiracy (stolen election-9/11 inside job-war over oil) theories anyway?
The petition reads:
Dobbs’ relentless promotion of outlandish conspiracy theories about President Barack Obama’s birth certificate seriously damages CNN’s credibility. It is time for “The Most Trusted Name in News” to prove it deserves viewers’ trust. We the undersigned demand CNN address its Lou Dobbs problem in a credible manner.
Numerous reporters, including CNN’s own hosts, have debunked the idea that Obama wasn’t really born in the U.S.
Nevertheless, Dobbs has repeatedly claimed on both his television and radio shows that the birth certificate the president posted online more than a year ago has “some issues”—and lashed out at “lily-livered lefties” who criticized him.
CNN’s reputation is on the line. Their president, Jon Klein, has admitted that anyone who “is not convinced doesn’t really have a legitimate beef”—but he has refused to correct the situation.

This birth certificate issue (which the left insists is a debunked hoax) is starting to make them very nervous, thus they are going into their typical censorship mode.
Again, if this were a nothing, such would be their response. But MoveOn is connected and their pushbacks are usually coordinated from on high.

What is wrong with holding our elected leaders accountable for their actions? Your points were very relevant regarding the trumped-up charges that were made by the left during the Bush years.
All Obama has to do to silence his critics is to produce the evidence and all of this goes away. The problem just might be–dare I say it–a conspiracy to cover this up that encompasses the ENTIRE government, BOTH political parties AND the ‘major’ media?
Now we have a precedence that has been set if “Mr. Kenya” is now the ‘legal’ office holder…Why doesn’t the Republican Party join the chorus? It’s simple:

I’m a birther because I’m stubborn. Just as Obama is stubborn about NOT wanted to show his hospital form birth certificate, I’m stubborn about WANTING to see it. I guess we will just have to see who is more stubborn.
The funny thing is that this whole birth certificate/eligibility issue was started by a Democrat……the one and only conspiracy theory originated by the left that has any merit!
If he is so innocent, then why isn’t he producing the evidence to END the controversy and CLEAR HIS NAME? Honest people do everything in their power to PROVE their innocence. Is this the actions of someone who is truly innocent?
If he is truly an American citizen, then why [is someone] producing evidence that is obviously fraudulent? “Rathergate” all over again?

There must be some reaaally embarrassing info in that birth certificate; maybe Obama’s scared to let everyone know whether he had a C-section or a natural birth? Or maybe it will prove he wasn’t born in a manger or on Krypton?
Just showing the birth certificate isn’t enough. According to the Democrat lawyer that started it all, even if he was born in Hawaii, does he still qualify as a “natural-born” citizen given the age of his mother and non-citizen father, or the possible renouncing of citizenship when living in another country, etc? Those are the questions that need to be clarified as well.
