Quote Of The Day

Brenda EkwurzelMaybe it’s because there are more and more stories about temperature records being set every day that the eco-libs are on an offensive. Granted, it is summer and there are some legitimate heat issues, but there are also some things some can’t honestly explain.

Record lows, global cooling across U.S.

Earth’s average temperature rises and falls in large part because of multiyear ocean cycles, such as El Niño and La Niña. At the same time, human-induced global warming has been steadily pushing average temperatures higher. Because of the natural ocean cycles, 1998 was a warm year. Global warming made it even hotter. Conversely, 2008 was a cooler year, but global warming made it less cool.
Brenda Ekwurzel, climate scientist with the Union of Concerned Scientists

There is an term regarding people who try and have things both ways. Some may use the word “hypocrite”. I think “fool” is more appropriate. As global warming was going to cook us all to death, now global warming is cooling off the warming.

I’m quite comfortable on the denier side.

And pay no attention to that man behind the curtain, I am Oz, the great and uh, powerful.

“Conversely, 2008 was a cooler year, but global warming made it less cool.”

It’s the perfect argument (well to uneducated people) because it can’t be disproved. While I say, “Conversely, it can’t be proven, so shut your mouth, R-Tard.”

I could say that global cooling made 2008 a cooler year with the ocean cycles. Conversely, 1998 was a hotter year but global cooling made it less hot. Brenda Ekwurzel couldn’t disprove my statement because of the way it was said.

I’m still waiting for corn in my area, so count me as a denier, too. Oh, I can’t wait to hear how the Texas drought is caused by global warming… just like the unusually steady rains in the Midwest this summer.

When I was a kid, it used to snow all winter long. Now, we get an average of about three good or half decent storms a year.
And when I was a kid, summers used to be hotter than Hades; we would sit on the front porch and watch the heat lightening, as we tried to cool down in the evenings. Now, the temperatures don’t quite reach that Hades level, and I am very appreciative of that.
When my parents were children, there were different cycles too, and when my grandchildren are my age I bet there will be new ones. Time and memorial.
I’m pretty certain that if they could be here, the dinosaurs would nod their heads in agreement.
I have no use for these idiots who want us to buy into a theory that is unproven, based on their word alone. It’s ludicrous.
And, we would be arrogant to believe that anything we could do would cause the earth to change temperatures.
I want a clean and healthy planet, but cap & trade is not the solution. Certainly not at the expense of ruining our lives first, and third world countries after.
Eco terrorists don’t get or they don’t want to get, the whole capitalism brings good things to all people. They would prefer that people died off, like the aforementioned dino’s.

@Eric – 2008 made Obama president, conversely, his lack of citizenship proof makes him less president.

@Trishmac – I’m with you. A clean and healthy planet is worthwhile to strive toward. Not, however, at the expense and pain of most of the population. I’ve always considered myself a conservationist, but not a greenie. I’m all for “treading lightly” but not at the expense of no a/c, not eating meat, killing old folks, etc.

This equivocating a waffle is really getting tiresome. Either the climate is warming according to your claims, or it isn’t. (it isn’t) This “rebranding” global warming to climate change is just stupid. Climate change is a redundant term. It is the nature of a climate to change.

This whole thing is a scam & Al Gore is laughing all of the way to the bank, or maybe under his bed now, due to the banking system fiasco. You will notice the way they use terms in such a manner as there is no way to prove who is correct. I thought it was a scam from the beginning, due to a background in Environmental Science & common sense. Computer models can be set up to give you the results you want.
There is an old Programmers saying that fits the bill here. Trash in = trash out. One slight error in Programming data input can completely change the resulting output. Possibly if you took all of the Computer Modeling results & used the average in a new Modeling scenario you “MAY” get a more reliable prediction. That all depends on who is reviewing it & their intent or purpose they expect to use it as a model for. That said, it is still speculation. Gore & many in Congress are using it for Garbage in, Money out. They become richer, while we become poorer & climate isn’t effected at all.
