The Democrats (despite their assurances) surely haven’t read all of what’s in their health care bill. There’s no way they would have let this slip had they really done so…?
The proposed health-insurance bill from the House of Representatives refers to mentally disabled people as “retarded” — a term advocates, relatives and physicians find outdated and offensive.
The bill refers to: “A hospital or a nursing facility or intermediate-care facility for the mentally retarded . . .”
In 1994, then-Vice President Gore referred to Republican Senate candidate Oliver L. North’s supporters as “the extra-chromosome right wing”. As we all know, having that extra chromosome can result in the development of Down syndrome. With that, there is growing consensus that insensitivity is a trait inherent to Democrats.
No big deal. Democrats will abort the unfit (retarded) so why show them any compassion in the first place.

These little “freudian slips” are quite revealing. The Al Gore comment doesn’t really surprise. I wish someone would ask Al how his father voted on the Civil Right bill. When he was being quizzed about the green agenda on capital hill, he gave the his pseudo-intellectually superior gaze to anyone who challenged any of his conclusions. That is always the difference between the real and the fake. The real enjoy the challenge.
By the way, Bob. How the hell did you get my 5th grade picture? I sealed that s**t Obama-style.
Actually, “mental retardation” is currently the politically-correct diagnosis; so I think that, as long “retarded” isn’t used with some sort of modifier (like “mentally”), it’s technically okay. However, I know that in the special education world – where “people-first language” is a must – they would probably prefer the bill to read, “A hospital or a nursing facility or intermediate-care facility for THOSE WITH MENTAL RETARDATION.”
Regardless, I’m not sure the libs would have much of a problem with this, even if a conservative wrote it.
And I meant to say “as long as ‘retarded’ IS used with some sort of modifier…”
Oh and if you read the bill they might not even give health care for people who have Mental or physical defects. I’m saying this from memory, but if you look at the link you posted earlier about the health car bill there is a link on that page to the bill and they mentioned it there.
Sensitivity?
no.
The Left literally revels in the foul, the insensitive, the derogatory, yes, even making fun of the handicapped.

Hey, Bob. It looks like you’ve hit the mainstream. It must have been your appearance on Fox.
It would seem you are right. According to the online bible, there is a negative connotation associated with its use.
“The American Association on Mental Retardation continued to use the term mental retardation until 2006. In June 2006 its members voted to change the name of the organization to the “American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities”.
Note to AAIDD: The term “disabled” also has negative connotations.
Just another example to support the likelihood that we will be clicking and whistling our way into extinction.
Note to Bob: I have a solution for your “racism” problem. Next time the subject is generic, you can choose a morph of images depicting white, black, Hispanic, Indian, Chinese, Jewish, Muslim, … people.
or
choose an officially sanctioned image, and avoid the minefield altogether.
As the sister of a woman with Down’s I clearly remember when she was younger we used the term Mongoloid. That was replaced with Down’s Syndrome, and while maybe a nicer connotation, she still was afflicted with a permanent condition including a very low level of educability. Yet she is perhaps the sweetest person on earth; but almost all Down’s families say this. As for mental retardation, the negativity of that term is staggering; it was fairly cruel when it was used in the past and when replaced, well deserved. So, the fact that this administration has reverted to its use scares me. If the term has been revived is it for some underlying reason? Perhaps as a stepping stone towards making the condition a reason for elimination before birth and as an excuse not to give health care after?
Hmmm, I think we should be very worried about this agenda. Very.
