Bonehead Of The Day
Of all people, one would think the Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee would know that the Sonia Sotomayor hearings would be a place where you would tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. Especially when we’re talking about a quote that can be easily checked….
PATRICK LEAHY SAID: “You said that, quote, you ‘would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would reach wise decisions.’”
THE FACTS: If that’s all Sotomayor said, the quote would barely have mattered to opponents of her nomination. The actual quote, delivered in a 2001 speech to law students at the University of California at Berkeley, was: “I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life.”
Leahy’s revision dropped the controversial part of the phrase, the part that has attracted charges of reverse racism.
Senator Leahy shows the typical contempt for the American people, thinking he can pull a fast one and no one will notice. Seeing how Democrats have the votes to pass Sotomayor, why do this?
Reflex.

“One thing you can depend on. You don’t have to be worried about what the middle-class is going to do. Things are so bad. They have to put food on the table. Get clothes on their kids. Get them in school.
I think this is a tremendous opportunity for a stronger America.”
Rep. Rangel

I think Rangel explained with unabashed eloquence the reason why, sometimes, the show must go on. Americans are not sheep; but, they do have lives, which are not subsidized through public wealth.

“why do this?”
The 40% of Americans that are moderate. The nearly 80% that are white. The 10% that are black, and closet conservatives. The 10% that are Hispanic, and closet conservatives. They have not completed their consolidation of power. Once the entitlements end, the closet conservatives will awaken. They already have in limited cases.

Leahy is a true a**, a no good liberal who does believe we are dumb and dumber. I’m thoroughly disgusted with these hearings, they’re nothing but a dog and pony show, with her confirmation as the finale. What’s the point, we all know we’re getting a wise-a** latina woman on the Supreme Court. What’s news worthy, is that once again our governmental processes are not worth a crap!
