Cool Website Of The Day

Many of us remember staying up to watch the first moon landing on our black and white televisions in 1969. Well, we can now watch the 40th Anniversary mission reenactment in real time as it happened… if that makes sense.
We Chose The Moon
Very cool.

Families crowded around black-and-white television sets in 1969 to watch Neil Armstrong take man’s first steps on the moon. Now, they’ll be able to watch the Apollo 11 mission recreated in real time on the Web, follow Twitter feeds of transmissions between Mission Control and the spacecraft, and even get an e-mail alert when the lunar module touches down. Those features are part of a new Web site from the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum commemorating the moon mission and Kennedy’s push to land Americans there first.

The Web site — WeChooseTheMoon.org — goes live at 8:02 a.m. Thursday, 90 minutes before the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 launch from Cape Canaveral, Fla. It will track the capsule’s route from the Earth to the Moon, ending with the moon landing and Armstrong’s walk — in real time, but 40 years later.

Looking forward to this.

Bob, have you not learned yet that according to some non-believers, that mission never happened. It was a scam & was filmed at a California film studio. Yeah, right! We never went to the moon, there is no Space Station, all of this is a Government conspiracy & none of this really happened. These people are the same ones that are saying the Twin Towers were destroyed by Demolition Explosives. It is funny how people with no Engineering background, Explosives experience or Science knowledge can explain how it was done (they can’t). Everyone is an armchair expert except when it comes to explaining their reasoning in Scientific or Engineering terms to back up their assumptions. Unless you have actual experience in Explosives Demolition & Structural Engineering, you have no clue & everything you may think caused it is just wishful thinking.

I was six weeks old, and my mother sat me in front of the television and held my eyes open so I could claim to have seen it.

This is going to be a bandwidth killer — thanks for sharing it!

My being 25, I’ve only STUDIED this and it sounded very fascinating and exciting, so this should be a killer 21 century re-enactment

I remember sitting in front of the TV watching in awe.

My 20yo fiance had just arrived home from OTC in Californis during The Viet Nam War. We were sitting on his parent’s living room floor watching a small B&W television also. I was completely enthralled with the mission but Skip couldn’t keep his eyes of me…and that is about all he remembers till this day! (Our 40th anniversary is next January) God love him!!!

I want to see the “high definition” tapes that were lost and now supposedly found.
