Palin: Beware The “New Tone” Trap

Sarah PalinGeorge W. Bush believed he could erase the nasty partisanship on Capitol Hill by introducing the successful “New Tone” used while governing Texas. However after a nasty post-election fight, Democrats never accepted Bush’s olive branch and for the next eight-plus years, pummeled him with the most vile assaults while he remained civil.

Democrats have been in attack mode against Sarah Palin for around a year. If she thinks reaching out will dampen their barbs, she’s either more naive than we originally thought, or she could be a political genius…

Brushing aside the criticisms of pundits and politicos, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said she plans to jump immediately back into the national political fray — stumping for conservative issues and even Democrats — after she prematurely vacates her elected post at month’s end.

And if she helps some Democrats get reelected, thus maintaining some of that majority, you think Pelosi and company will say thank you?

The former Republican vice-presidential nominee and heroine to much of the GOP’s base said in an interview she views the electorate as embattled and fatigued by nonstop partisanship, and she is eager to campaign for Republicans, independents and even Democrats who share her values on limited government, strong defense and “energy independence.”“I will go around the country on behalf of candidates who believe in the right things, regardless of their party label or affiliation,” she said over lunch in her downtown office, 40 miles from her now-famous hometown of Wasilla — population 7,000 — where she began her political career.

I hope she knows what she’s doing, because if she’s going to be a Republican frontrunner for 2012, having aiding the defeat of Republicans will not be a resume enhancement.

BRFan, maybe it’s because many Republicans are not really conservative but are only RINO’s. A real conservative realizes that Sarah Palin connects with so many Americans…only Democrats, liberals and RINO’s are afraid of her.

There are 2 gubernatorial races this year. VA and my home state of NJ. From what I’ve read, the Republican candidates are leading both races and are leery of having anything to do with her.

and she is eager to campaign for Republicans, independents and even Democrats who share her values on limited government, strong defense and “energy independence.”

Good luck finding many Republicans that are down for that, let alone any democrats or “independents.” Well, maybe the whole energy independence schtick if you use that particular codeword to mean windmills and solar panels, and definitely not domestic oil or nukes.

Why not wait and see what she does first?

I note they are compelled to mention Wasilla, which is always used as a means of minimizing her.

Personally, I don’t believe a single Democrat will take her up on her offer. I’m sure she knows this, but it makes a useful non-partisan pose.

Also, you typoed thing for think. I do that one a lot.

To win the war we need to win the battles. We need to seek aliances with people of like mind. If she is legitimate and can identify people of integrity, then this is a smart strategic move. Maybe people with conservative values will decide to form a new party, or cleanse the existing Republican party. Either way, we need to come together and ensure a better future for everyone.

    “for the next eight-plus years”

Their “experts” and “analysts” were complicit in the assault, not only on Bush, but all Americans. Throughout those years, they were crying crisis this, crisis that. Is it any wonder that eventually there was a crisis. Setting aside questions of “cause and effect”, they certainly sabotaged Americans’ confidence.

tough call here, you sort of HAVE to be partisan for the sake of the survival of the country. you either teach intelligence and independence of government, or you teach victimization, stupidity, and DEPENDENCE

good luck finding a Democrat who wants to teach the intelligence & independence of government

    it’s that simple..
