Have we not been told as children to “watch where you walk”…?
So, it’s everyone’s fault but 15-year-old girl Alexa Longueira, who was careless enough to be texting while walking, right into a hole accidentally left without warning coneage. Here enabling parent will sue and the city will cave.
Could be multiple boneheads here.

The bottom line is that she wasn’t watching where she was walking and it is her fault. If she didn’t see an open hole she probably would not have seen a cone either. It is not everyone else’s job to ensure her safety…it is her own. She better be glad I’m not the Mayor of that City because I would defend the City at all costs against any lawsuit filed by her parents….and then I would counter sue in order to recoup the cost of the litigation. People need to start being held responsible for their actions and the justice system needs to do more to discourage these ridiculous types of lawsuits.
Damn I guess they didn’t have any Michale Jackson coverage.
My first thought…$#!t happens.
I think her first comment, “It was like something out of a movie…”
Sums it up.
Not out of a movie, sweetie.
We call this, “reality”.
granted, I text and walk as well, but I ALWAYS look ahead every few seconds to see if anybody or anything is in my path..it’s called common sense and kids these days need to learn it
“Regardless if texting I would have seen a large orange cone”
You should have seen a big hole in the ground too. I doubt she would have seen the cones either.
I agree there are multiple boneheads. The city workers should have put the barriers up before removing the cover and the girl is part to blame for not paying attention. Maybe an 80/20 split.
