As many of you know, Congress has exempted itself from the universal health care program President Obama and the rest will attempt to force the American people into. At least one congressman doesn’t think that right.
It’ll be at least five years after passage until a congressperson can – at least – opt in to the (government) system, and then it doesn’t force them to do that – it just allows them to do that.
I think that the job of a congressman is to represent his people. How can you honestly represent your people when you’re not dealing with the same problems and issues and decision-making that others do?”
I think there is a very deep sense in the electorate, which I think is accurate, that Congress tends to exempt itself from the very policies that it creates. You have to believe that if Congress exempts itself or has an option that doesn’t force members into the same kind of plans (the public is required to have), then it’s, again, ‘What’s good for the goose is not necessarily what’s good for the gander’.
— Rep. John Fleming (R-La.)
This should get shot down in record time because if affects… them.

If he is the “Messiah” he doesn’t need health care, as he can cure himself.
“How can you honestly represent your people when you’re not dealing with the same problems and issues and decision-making that others do?”
Didn’t BS claim that McCain “just doesn’t get it.” Do narcissists always deflect criticism? Probably. How can one love an imperfect self, unless that self is deluded. Of course, maybe he is the “messiah.” In that case, his imperfections are actually our misperceptions.
Hmm… Something to think about. He is right, and we are – all – wrong.
“shot down in record time because if affects… them”
Oh well. At least we still have the jesters to entertain and bemuse us. Executive, Congress, “elites”, etc., play on.
Good going, Rep. Fleming. At least someones doesn’t believe “some animals are more equal than others”.
