When Free Speech Shouldn’t Be

Is it Free Speech? Hitler/Obama Comparisons at Republican Promoted Tea BaggingPoor little liberals. Some racist, right wing, Republican hater actually had the audacity to compare the beloved President Obama to Adolph Hitler. This is so upsetting, I have a box of tissues standing by right here on my desk.

According to JaxPoliticsOnline.com:
“numerous signs that were prominently displayed at the gathering, including two that featured Barack Obama in Nazi garb. One sign, in fact, had altered Obama’s appearance to resemble Hitler. Other signs compared ACORN, the community organizing group accused of voter registration irregularities, with the SS-the Nazi organization responsible for enacting the Holocaust and the group responsible for most of the crimes against humanity committed by the Third Reich.”

And the Duval Republican Party shows that support for free speech by celebrating it in photos.

Lisa DerrickLisa Derrick of the Huffington Post is obviously bothered by the Obama-Hitler comparison and the Republican’s cowardly cover of “free speech” of which she must vehemently disagree.

With that, I wonder how much Lisa Derrick wrote about the following…

bush_hitler3Bush-Hitler asciabush_hitler_redbush-hitler2bush_hitler5bush_hitler4bush-hitlerbush-as-hitlerNaziCheney3hitler_bushBushHitlerShitAssholeBush-hitler-blair-mussolinibush_hitler_propagandabush_-_hitlerbush=hitlerR-CheneyNaziPosterbush_hitlerbush-hitler5bush_nazibush_nazi2
……………………...
I’m afraid the right wing Republicans are miles behind when it comes to almost eight years worth of presidential-Hitler analogy, and Lisa Derrick knows this as well (I will take it for granted that she has some intelligence). But seeing how Barack Obama has perpetuated most of George W. Bush’s terror and war policies, and has imposed an authoritarian nature to our government that makes his predecessor look like a bush leaguer, I’d be very careful about whining about those Obama-Hitler comparisons.

They may be vile, but they may be closer than Ms. Derrick would want to admit.

Author’s note: I didn’t link the “art” back to their origins as to not send unwanted grief their way. If the creators want proper attribution (and all that may come with it), please let me know and I’ll make the corrections.

Those are some pretty funny caricatures of Bush. See that’s the difference between conservatives and liberals. Conservatives can laugh at themselves and see humor where it exists (even when said humor is WAY off base); whereas liberals are like immature, spoiled children who throw temper tantrums when they don’t get their way. Liberals’ hatred and insults went to new levels during the Bush years. They certainly have NO room to complain when their Messiah is exposed and ridiculed. Liberals decry the Patriot Act as tyranny but what Obama is doing makes the Patriot act look like a Declaration of Independence. You see, liberals aren’t against dictators….they happen to love any dictator that represents them and their ideology.

Let’s see, Hero worship, cult of personality, trying to intimidate and silence critics, fawning press media, etc. Just like 30’s Germany, we are into a recession/depression with devalued currency(not quite on 30’s Germany level yet)there are prescreened people and questions at press conferences. All we need is a group to use as primary scapegoat for all problems which we will proceed to demonize.

There are no similarities and that could never happen in the U.S.
    My apologies.

    Continuing with breadbasket’s “Let’s see”:

    Funded by industrialists
    Created his own symbol
    Strong-arm election tactics
    Fraudulent voter registration
Carefully planned, highly organized and tightly orchestrated public speeches, at night with dramatic lighting, etc.
Got his own songs (see little children singing ‘em on YouTube; it’s scary)
    Nebulous promises of undefined change
    Consolidating power immediately
    Constraint of the press

Gee. Is there a pattern, or what?

It’s amazing how the liberals can dish it out, but don’t you dare do it to them. It’s children running our country and they are running it right into the ground :( .

Godwin’s Law is the last resort and not something I condone by either party. I am curious if the Duval County Republican Party did not wish to endorse or support the views of those comparing Obama to Hitler, why did their Director of Social Media Stephen Butters post those picture to their Facebook page?. They have been removed, but you can see all of them at http://lafiga.firedoglake.com/2009/07/05/is-it-free-speech-hitlerobama-comparisons-at-republican-promoted-tea-bagging/
where the facebook tags are very clearly attached.

ACORN would be the functional equivalent of the Nazi Brownshirts, not the SS.

  7. Marla Says:

    Hey Lisa,

Sucks to be you now, doesn’t it? Free Speech is good only when liberals are using it, is that the picture?

Go move to Cuba – you’ll feel right at home there.

  8. MissJean Says:

Ms. Derrick, why don’t you ask Mr. Butters? If you’re really curious, you should do that.

And I’m curious – why do you and others call the Tea Party attendees “teabaggers”? No doubt you’ve got a good reason. After all, we’ve all read the Huffington Post writers call gay rights activists “butt****ers”, animal rights activists “furries”, and immigrants groups “Dirty Sanchezes”.

    Is she a “progressive”?

    “I am curious…”

No, she must be a “liberal.” Backpedaling already? This is grade school all over again.

First, they were on the defensive. Then, on the offensive. Today, once again, they are on the defensive.

The tide is turning. People realize their policies will require sacrifices, and they are not prepared to make them. Even journalists with integrity cannot deny that regressive policies have always been, and continue to be, dismal failures. This is especially true when their policies sabotage the economy, which serves the needs of human beings while they exist on Earth. Furthermore, it doesn’t help to have a large unproductive class which undermines our economy, nor a large aging population which will become a burden on the same, nor a growing illegal population who delegitimize and destabilize our society.

Is invocation of “Godwin’s Law” equivalent to that of mentioning Nazis? Just when do socialists escape their heritage in Nazi Germany, the communist CCCP, fascist Italy, imperial Japan, etc. By the way, if the fascists are “right-wing”, then the people who ascribe to conservative principles and philosophy are neither “right-wing,” and certainly not “left-wing.” History would dictate that the regressives, including their modern equivalents, the “liberals” and “progressives”, lay claim to both wings. It is unfortunate that people have either forgotten or choose to ignore the past, and, surprisingly, the present.

I thought the solution lies with the “minorities” casting of their chains and speaking out against those who would exploit them. It seems I underestimated their tactics. While whites experience progressive exploitation, discrimination, and marginalization, so too do blacks, Hispanics, and other “minorities.” This is not a “black and white” issue. It is about control, and, by definition, it is fascism, it is dictatorial. A more appropriate analogy of BS to a figure in history would be Mussolini. Although, Hitler, Stalin, et al, were just as much fascists. It is telling how easily each philosophy crosses over to the other. Does that also trigger “Godwin’s Law” (is an uncle also required)?

Does the debate end because “he won”? Does he have an unrestricted mandate with 53% support? Just how many supporters does he have? Considering that more moderates are recognizing the insanity of his, and the Democrats (and other pretenders), policies, we can assume that his support has been reduced from his original base. There is no way that anyone who did not vote for him, would support his regressive policies. So, his current approval rating hovers around 50%. That would mean that he only has support from no more than 27% of the country.

One more matter. If our “representatives” (i.e., public servants) will not, or cannot, even read the bills before them, then let the “Tea Parties” continue. Eventually, everyone will recognize and accept reality. The regressive limbo should be left in the past, along with other discarded and denounced relics which only serve to curtail progress and prevent peaceful coexistence.
