Sotomayor Owes This Man An Explanation

“Procedure” my ass. Had a white Republican Supreme Court nominee done this to an innocent black man, the Associated Press wouldn’t be making many excuses for him (note the rare use of a black law professor for rebuttal) and this would be THE story of the confirmation process.

So far, not much on this from the mainstreamers.

  1. Uncle Rick Says:

One would have thought that a ‘wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences’ might also have given some thought abstract notions of justice, rather than some arcane legallism. That’s one thing that sours so many people on lawyers in general.

People don’t want law; they want justice. When an injustice like this happens, we are justified (pun deliberate) in feeling outrage. At a time like this, judges are quick to blame the Congress. At other times they are more than happy to do a little legislating from the bench themselves.

    It’s all about power.

That’s so true Mr Parks (and Uncle Rick).

But, look on the bright side: “liberals” don’t really care about justice for black men, either (i.e. black men and white men are finally equal before the law!).

“Liberals” care expanding their own power over everyone else’s lives; they sometimes pretend to care about an injustice done a black man if they see a way to hype it to increase their power.
