Rush Quote Of The Day
And if you weren’t feeling like a jilted, suckered housewife in a lame Lifetime movie, eat this…
You know, home sales, by the way… As Obama would say, “Most economists from across the spectrum agree.” That’s how he does it. “Economists from a wide spectrum of thought all agree…” Home sales are critical for the recovery of the American economy, and the administration is saying this, and it’s true.
Home sales are critical. So why put these provisions in the cap-and-trade bill? Listen to this. “Homebuyers Beware. Trying to save up for a new home? You may have to save up a little longer for your purchase. The Democrats’ bill would dramatically increase new home costs by mandating California’s expensive new building codes for the entire nation. Immediately upon enactment, the Democrats’ bill would demand a 30 percent increase in energy efficiency for new construction. A couple of years later, the Democrats’ bill would require an additional 50 percent improvement. These numbers were chosen with no concern for cost to consumers or feasibility in implementation,” and most people voting on it didn’t even know these provisions were in the bill ’cause there was not a bill. So this is going to stifle the American economic recovery because it’s going to stifle home sales.
Just go to the White House website where you’ll find all the information you want. Barack Obama promised “transparency” and if you can’t see through him by now, you’re as screwed as the country is.

OK, so I’m not a lawyer. But I know how to read, and I’ve read the Constitution regularly over the last couple of decades and know that the legislative powers of the Congress are strictly limited. They are defined in Article I, Section 8 (‘Powers of Congress’). Go ahead and read it; it’s pretty terse and to the point. The first 16 clauses define the subjects regarding which the Congress can legislate on behalf of the whole Republic and apply within all the states. None of it can be construed to pertain to any kind of building code.
Of course, they get around this by tying otherwise unenforceable legislation to funding of some kind. If a state is willing to do without the funding, it can ignore the legislation.

UR,
second para. first.
the term you are looking for is *constitutional extortion*. i.e., holding a states funds hostage. sort of like how madd got all the states to lower the dui to 0.08 bac by having congress withhold highway tax dollars, that already belonged to the states, unless the states took the appropriate action.
first para.
the phrase that is the foundation of liberalism in the US is found in that section 8. the first sentence actually. look for the phrase provide for the common defence and general welfare of the united states;
the general welfare *hook* is what it all hinges on.
it is their catch phrase.
it is anything and everything that they interpret that they can do to wretch power into their own hands.
national building code = national health care

“Actually, this pic has nothing to do with Rush’s quote.”
Actually, I was wondering why the “Angry Michelle”. Some people will simply never be proud nor, apparently, happy. Off the wagon she goes, where she lands, no one knows.
So, Bob, a slow day of comedy on capital hill? My mistake, I overlooked the rest of the post.
“promised “transparency” and if you can’t see through him by now”
Actually, he’s becoming darker (as in “Dark side” — any sci-fi fans?). I just hope it’s not to late for escaping from the black hole which is BS.
It should be interesting to know what happens in Honduras. If Zelaya’s actions were in fact unconstitutional, and the UN, along with BS, successfully reinstate him, then this does not bode well for America.

Bob, we Americans have not had enough pain. Period.
We forget the lessons of sacrifice, bloodshed, and pain that we had to go through in defeating Nazism and even Communism. We are up to our eyeballs now in Progressives and Liberals, and they are screwing up the country horribly – problem is, the pain has not set in yet.
When it does, oh my! We are in for one rough roller-coaster ride, if it stays on the tracks…

@Igor – one wonders if, in terms of pain, the tea parties will become some sort of grounding point for real, useful change. It’ll hurt, but tightening the belt, really not in funny money numbers, will be hard.
However, another source of that pain could come if the resident-in-chief is found to be illegitimate. What then? By law he should be ousted and tried for criminal charges of both sedition (as a foreigner), and fraud. The riots that would ensue could likely send us into 3rd world status, but at least it would be with integrity to what the Constitution says and stands for, eventually we could recover from that. I’m not sure there’s a recovery for where we’re heading if O, Pelosi, Rahm, etc. get their way.
