Sarkozy’s Burqa Balls

Two women, one wearing the niqab, a veil worn by the most conservative Muslims that exposes only a woman's eyes, right, walk side by side, in the Belsunce district of downtown Marseille, central France, Friday June 19, 2009. The French government's spokesman says he favors the creation of a parliamentary commission to study the small but growing trend of burqa wear in France. Luc Chatel says the commission could possibly propose legislation aimed at banning the burqa and other fully covering garments worn by some Muslim women. (AP Photo/Claude Paris)It’s considered intolerant to do or say anything that may offend some Muslims, even if those offended demand their customs are always accommodated. So when in France…

“In our country, we cannot accept that women be prisoners behind a screen, cut off from all social life, deprived of all identity,” President Nicolas Sarkozy said to extended applause in a speech at the Chateau of Versailles southwest of Paris.

“The burqa is not a religious sign, it’s a sign of subservience, a sign of debasement—I want to say it solemnly,” he said. “It will not be welcome on the territory of the French Republic.”

And if Muslims there don’t like it, nobody is on their knees begging them to stay. Not like there are open arms anywhere else for the intolerant and easily offended to violence.

Marla: “Oh, that’s a woman in that thing? How would anyone know?”

    It’s a Bagged Woman.

The burqa … or even the “mere” hijab … is no more about religion than rape is about sex.

Okay, I’ll buy a “nationalized citizen” being POTUS. If it’s Sarkozy.

  4. OldnyFirefighter says:

I agree with him. If they don’t like it they can leave & don’t let the door hit them in the ass on the way out.

Finally, a Frenchman showing some backbone.

But wait. He’s Hungarian, just like my old headmaster and fencing instructor were. The knew what it felt like to get stomped by the biggest bully on the block.

Hate to say it; but, add a scythe and it bears a striking resemblance to the grim reaper.

“Not like there are open arms anywhere else for the intolerant…”

Uhh, Bob… Did you forget the U.S.S.A?

Oh, that’s a woman in that thing? How would anyone know? It looks like an elephant man costume.
