Stallworth Receives Field Justice
While driving through Cleveland last night, I had the opportunity to listen to some local sports talk radio. Browns fans weren’t too happy with the slap-on-the-wrist, pay-to-make-the-family-go-away Donte’ Stallworth received and gave back after essentially killing someone while DUI.
The National Football League commish metted out his own form of justice.
Browns receiver Donte’ Stallworth has been suspended indefinitely by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.
Stallworth, who pleaded guilty to DUI manslaughter on Tuesday and received a 30-day jail sentence with other penalties for killing a pedestrian on March 14, will not be allowed to visit the Browns’ facility or participate in any team activities.
Now, let’s see if professional sports can be consistent and later do to this to a deserving young franchise player, and not just patronize the public with a token public gesture of outrage towards an aging player of questionable significance.
