Video Of The Day

Yes, NBC News’ Brian Williams bows to Barack Obama; not king, not messiah, but elected president.

What does Williams know that we don’t?

I wouldn’t call that a bow to be honest. More of a nod.

  2. dlanor says:

Bow or nod would Williams have done the same for W? I don’t remember it happening. AND for the un-presidented access W did the same later in his administration but I guess folks have forgotten since W was not the chosen one.

  3. Ilion says:

    That’s not a nod, that’s a bow.

Furthermore, you nod from across the room, not when you’re touching.

  4. Nicolas says:

that was a bow, albeit it “bow: lite”. a nod is JUST the head, he leaned forward slightly

  5. Ilion says:

A nod is also brief and subtle — it is more about the face than about the gross movement of the head and body. And, with a nod, do you not either *lift* the chin or cock the head to the side (which, again, *lifts* the chin)?

  6. Ilion says:

Now, there is a nod which includes the slight and brief lowering of the chin, but it is very quick and does not involve the sholders … and, if you don’t see the nodder’s face, you miss it.

  7. Ilion says:

With a nod, both parties are looking into one another’s eyes, and eye contact is maintained.

  8. JR says:

    oow that’s painful to watch

i bet he’s holding back plenty of slobber

  9. kurotaka says:

That was a bow, although not an obvious one. More people might have commented had he actually knelt and kissed the ring, so to speak.

  10. MarlaZ says:

It was a bow disguised as a nod so as not to get right-wing extremists alarmed! ;-/
