Rush Quote Of The Day

Judge Sonia SotomayorIn listening to all these liberal Democrats warn the GOP about not being nice-nice to Latina Judge Sonia Sotomayor (because of a possible ethnic electorate blowback), Rush reminds us of how progressives recently treated another female minority judicial pick….

I want to remind you of Janice Rogers Brown with the help of Jan LaRue from the AmericanThinker.com: If they can stomach it, Republicans should prep themselves for Sotomayor’s confirmation hearing by reviewing tapes or reading transcripts of Judge Janice Rogers Brown’s hearing. Brown was President George W. Bush’s African-American nominee to the DC Circuit Court of Appeals.

Anyone want to bet the Democrats have conveniently forgotten about Judge Rogers Brown…?

We haven’t.

Judge Janice Rogers Brown

“Democrats weren’t so smitten with her compelling life story that they were incapable of asking her tough questions.” They bored down into her. They didn’t care about her compelling life story. If they were being honest with themselves and true to what they say they believe in then they “should have championed Judge Brown’s confirmation, not because of her compelling life story, but because of her record as an exemplary judge committed to the rule of law, equality for all Americans, and her limited role as a judge.”

But it could (and would) get more vicious. Ask Clarence Thomas how that works.

“Instead, privileged, wealthy, white Democrats attacked Brown as an ‘extreme right-wing’ judge who didn’t care about ‘civil rights’ or the ‘down-trodden.’ They were unconstrained by accusations of racism and sexism.” Janice Rogers Brown, remember, is an African-American. “When the Democrats ended their nearly two-year delay, including a filibuster of Brown’s re-nomination in 2005, their attacks continued.” They accused her of racism; they accused her of sexism, and it did not hurt them with the black vote, did it? “They claimed their opposition wasn’t racist or sexist: Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-Mass.) ridiculed Bush nominees, including Brown, as ‘Neanderthals.’ He attacked Brown as ‘another extreme right-wing candidate … a judicial activist who will roll back basic rights.’”

If the GOP goes sweet and light on Sotomayor, then that’s essentially a slap in the face to black Republicans. This is not a case for revenge, but fairness. If the Republican Party can allow Democrats to dictate what racism is, then they can and will control the dialogue.

And let’s not forget; Judge Janice Rogers Brown never made racist comments. Judge Sonia Sotomayor did.

“what will it take to get the “democrat race lie” out”

The “minorities” need to speak out. Caucasians are marginalized, and, in particular, male Caucasians are ridiculed and ignored. This despite the history of so-called minorities participating in rape, pillage, and enslavement, including: American Indians, Indians, Arabs, Turks, Persians, Mongolians, “Black” Africans, Egyptians, Chinese, et al.

Until people acknowledge their heritage, and realize that their ancestry is just as blood-stained as the next group, we will not be able to realize the “American dream.” We will continue to exploit each other, or allow others to exploit us, for reasons of wealth and power.

The goal is not to be “color blind”; but, to respect each other. We don’t have to be friends. We don’t have to share our lives, other than by necessity of society or by choice. We need to accept that we are not fundamentally equal; however, we should strive to be better than we are and accept our limitations, imposed by nature or choice.

That said, I am encouraged that there are people of all shapes, sizes, and colors, that “get it”. There is hope for a better future. America had a rough start (by necessity); but, it has, and does, offer us the best opportunity to pursue a better life individually and as a society.

It is a bitter irony that Russians now appreciate the principles and lessons which many Americans now ignore. It seems that history must repeat itself, if only to satisfy the ignorance and audacity of each new generation.

As is said, everything old is new again — for better or worse.

I’m so tired of that apocalyptic crap: Republicans better be nice to Sotomayor, or else; Republicans need to be more than the party of ‘No”; Republicans need to go more towards the middle or they’re going to be a permanent minority; yada, yada, yada.

The dems gave a shit less about the wonderfully brilliant Janice Rogers Brown…did the black folks strike back? Of course not, the taxeaters amongst them never heard one word about the hearings and wouldn’t dare stray from the plantation. The demorats were in the minority for six years, did we hear story after story about how the dems needed to be more than just the party of “NO” (which is exactly what they were), or how they needed to move more to the middle in order to become relevant again. Of course not. The Republicans served-up the vaunted “middle” agent in McCain, and they got their asses waxed for it. And it would have been ten times worse if Palin hadn’t dragged so many Conservatives in from staying home. Conservatism works every time, and Steele, et al, better remember that or the Republican party is going to get buried very deeply in the woods.

what will it take to get the “democrat race lie” out into the public enough to swing public opinion in our favor permanently? how is it that we haven’t been that strong on getting our message out on civil rights, etc to the public, just allowing the left to dictate what it is and just TAKE the garbage from them?

What will it take to finally topple the left on civil rights, especially considering they committed the ultimate sin of thinking blacks were less than human & created the KKK? the hypocrisy pisses me off to no end….

This just in, the same people who support the murder of the innocent in the womb also tell big lies.

The real 800 pound gorilla in that room is called, “abortion”…

  6. Ilion says:

Tangentally, based on that picture, Rogers-Brown seems to me to be more attractive than Mrs O. But, where were the MSM raves about *her* beauty?

  7. Ilion says:

    “Liberals” hate everyone, including themselves.

I also remember how they treated Condoleeza Rice. The racist rants and caricatures were some of the most disgusting things I have seen written about public figures. The CBC and NAACP gave a free pass for all of it, too. The type of treatment given to Judge Brown is typicial of especially white democrats. They are just waiting for a green light to begin their vicious accusations and innuendo.

But like you said, Bob, there is no documented racial statements like with Judge Sotomayor. Talk about selective amnesia.
