Is THIS the kind of car Americans want?

“Small cars represent one of the fastest growing segments in both the U.S. and around the world,” GM chief executive Fritz Henderson said in a statement. “We believe this car will be a winner with our current and future customers in the U.S.”
No thanks. I’ll wait for the 2012 models to come out, if you know what I mean….

The thing that amazes me about the Auto Industry is that they keep forgetting why people don’t buy their cars – they’re too expensive! Every time I see an ad for a car on TV, I never hear about how cheap they are but instead, I hear about how it has all these superficial features. I know the Unions make it almost impossible to make the cars cheaper, but they should at least TRY to.
And I’m saying this as a Detroit native
“I’ll wait for the 2012 models to come out, if you know what I mean….”
that and let’s not forget 2010.
Regarding cars though, man..that’s an ugly color. Reminds me of the ’73 flick I saw in later years, “American Graffiti“. Bob Falfa’s colorful line – “a combination of piss yellow, & puke green”
for my money, I’d likely get a decent small car, as long as it was comfortable enough and met my needs
damn..apparently I didn’t do my intended link correctly, when I said “American Graffiti”
Now seriously, as a midwesterner, how the hell am I going to cart my kids around in that thing for almost half the year for the kind of weather we get. No thanks.
Don’t forget the roads too, Hoss
Can you imagine what any REAL chevy will be worth along about 2020?
Government Motors – New Genericus Models
I refuse to buy a GM now. Ever, ever again.
I agree with you crowhorse, my husband and I will NEVER look at a GM car again. We use to swear by them but never again. And can you imagine what one of these small cars will look like after meeting a semi-truck? The death related to these “new’ “green” cars will soar.
This reminds me of a Simpsons episode. Where a tall guy purchases a similarly small car, and his head protrudes though the moon roof. He drives down the street, and Nelson points and laughs at him. He then stops. Approaches Nelson, and announces this is the only car he could afford. Shouldn’t tall people be afforded the dignity and respect while driving a car they can afford?
The tall people in this world need an advocacy group to represent them and protest the incursion of their rights. This is an outrage!
They’ll have to take my Legend, out of my cold, dead hands!
These cars will really be disliked by the Brady Campaign, as you can expect the death rate to double if not triple & they can’t blame the deaths on guns! They are way too small to have enough crumple area to soak up the shock of an impact. Crumple zones decrease the energy transmitted to the passenger compartment. When a vehicle suddenly stops the passengers are still traveling the same speed the vehicle was traveling before the impact. Although it looks instantaneous in a collision, crumple zones allow the vehicle to come to a stop slower & absorb much of the energy that would be transmitted to the Passengers. In one of these smaller vehicles almost any collision with a solid object at speeds above 40mph would almost always be fatal. The only thing these small vehicles are safer than, in a collision, is a Motorcycle.
