Bonehead Of The Day

Mike LupicaNew York Daily News columnist Mike Lupica has decided, in white liberal-guilt fashion, to defend a former Army general against the savage attacks by two partisan Republicans who dare criticize a black, so-called Republican. Lupica asserts that since neither Rush Limbaugh nor Dick Cheney has served in the military (and military issues aren’t even the topic here), they have no right to challenge Colin Powell on anything, let alone what it is to be a Republican.

A week ago Cheney – whose idea of a foxhole is Fox News – went on “Face the Nation” and said he assumed Powell had left the Republican Party after endorsing Barack Obama. Then Cheney said if he had to choose between Powell and Rush Limbaugh to lead the Republicans, he would go with Limbaugh.

But that really is the current Republican Party, isn’t it? Angry old white men like Cheney and Limbaugh talking to each other. Two toy soldiers who enjoy insulting a real one like Powell.

As someone who has served, I’ll pick up where Limbaugh and Cheney can’t. Who the hell is Mike Lupica to talk anyway…?

Deferments during the Vietnam War were not only used by evil Republicans who now send our children off to “immoral, illegal” wars. The sons of the well-connected, political and economic elite were also the direct recipients of policies created on Capitol Hill. You know, sons who wrote letters to generals on how they “loathed” the military and later became presidents.

So before hypocrites like Mike Lupica (who grew up a priviledged Northeast liberal) begin to criticize and use non-service as a weapon, he should look long and hard in the mirror before he starts typing away again.

He doesnt have the guts to put on a uniform in support of the troops who provide the very freedom he enjoys.

I’m may be gettin’ old, but I’m not white.

    I’m a veteran.

    I agree with Cheney.

Hi Bob! I haven’t been around here for a while (my husband and I are in our busiest season at work), but I’ve been keeping up with your posts in Bloglines. I just wanted to say thank you for your service, on this special day of remembering the fallen. I’m so glad you’re not numbered among them, but still here, doing what you do.

God bless, and I salute you, sir!

Ah yes, the “Chickenhawk” argument that a lot of liberal types love throwing around. The best response I have ever heard against was from a friend of mine and I will borrow it here:

Mr. Lupica, you would do well to remember that the military in this country answers to the civilians, not the other way around. So neither Limbaugh or Cheney are out of line in criticizing Mr. Powell.

(Annoyed, white male, former Marine over here.)

Nice. That moron Mike certainly deserves to called on his garbage. for somebody who doesn’t have any cows, that constipated greyhound Mike Lupica sure produces a lot of bullshit. The arrogance is always amazing the way socialists always try to “determine” what the current state of our party is “oh well the Republicans are (this way)” and “the Republicans are (that way) now”.

All they’re doing is taking a shot in the dark and they don’t even know it.

  6. Mauser says:

The annoying thing about liberals is they like to define standards for Republicans that they don’t have to adhere to themselves. Thus Republicans being “Pro war” (Whatever that means) are required – by liberals – to have served to have a valid opinion, while they, being Peacenicks, do not need to have served (or if they did, that gives them even MORE “War is bad” cred).

On the other hand, Republicans who HAVE served are Brainwashed militaristic babykillers whose opinion shouldn’t be heard either.

We have to stop playing their game, and stop playing by THEIR rules, because the way the Liberals stack the deck, Rule #1 is “You lose”. (Kinda like how Republicans are held to higher ethical standards than Democrats).

And in conclusion, thank you for your service, Bob.

  7. Hoss says:

Well, employing his own logic he needs to STFU and not write about sports anymore. I didn’t see anywhere in his bio where he played sports, so how the hell could he have a valid opinion in writing about them.

And as usual, the left makes their victims (i.e. Powell) unassailable. Too bad poor little Colin has to have some milquetoast leftist stick up for him. They can have him already.
