It always sounds nice when our elected leaders decide it’s time to reach out and listen to us. The problem is it’s not because they want to hear our concerns; it’s because they’re out of power and need us to be relevant again.
With the party at its lowest standing in several decades, Republicans on Saturday launched a listening tour in the heart of the Democratic suburbs, where several of the party’s leading voices steered clear of hot-button issues and instead emphasized the need to advance new policy ideas to revive the party’s prospects.
House Minority Whip Eric Cantor and former Republican governors Jeb Bush and Mitt Romney – both frequently mentioned as potential 2012 GOP presidential candidates – spoke to about 100 attendees at a pizzeria in the Washington suburb of Arlington, Va.. The event was the first held by the newly launched National Council for a New America.
These Republicans have heard our concerns. These politicians have also blown off our phonecalls and faxes, ruined some of our state parties for their own political expediency, gone against us on Sunday talk shows, voted against us on bills, and now they want to “listen”.
I guess that’s better than expecting them to answer an email.

During the campaign, when I’d see the videos of McCain lecturing the citizens (who were prepared to vote for him) who trying to express their concerns and fears to him, my response was “You God-damned son-of-a-bitch! Just get out of the way”
Had *I* been at some of those rallies, they might have turned into anti-McCain demonstrations.
Well, this election was basically hand-fed us by the media. I knew exactly who it would come down to and knew without a doubt who was going to win based solely on the media coverage.
It really was sickening.
feels empty..
I get the feeling though, had you won either of the races you were a contender in, Bob, you certainly would’ve lived up to what we’d LIKE a Republican politician to be – voted on their morals, listened to their constituents, and couldn’t POSSIBLY be persuaded to vote in the other direction.
The last election was a bitch slap to the Republicans with the sublety of Pacquiao’s KO of Hatton. Hopefully, they can go back to being conservatives instead of half-stepping RINO’S. I am hopeful that Steele can help bring it back. He slipped a little out of the gate, but seems to have caught stride and is starting to be more consistent with the message.
Just go back to the roots and let the dems bury themselves. Now that Obama is starting to be exposed as the left winger he really is, the cracks will slowly get bigger. The dems won big and with the potential 60/40 fillibuster breaker, they will not be able to contain their hubris. As much as I am mad at the republicans, it is fun to watch the POTUS and his MSM bitches do the daily fumble that they used to nail W for.
Nice town hall, my wife tried to go. Selected few were allowed. You needed tickets and they were not available to just anyone. Again, stack the audience and hear what you want to not what you need to.
