Bonehead Of The Day

Peggy NoonanLiberals love (to a point) conservatives who think like they do. Celebrated so-called Republican deep thinkers like Peggy Noonan are an embarrassment. Then again, that’s how she gets paid.

Barack Obama was elected in part because of his singularity. There was no one like him. He was a break with the past, not only because of his youth and race but also his cerebral bent, his cool demeanor. He seemed free of the partisan muck. He was hard to categorize because we didn’t have categories for him. This was part of his power. It denied his foes purchase; they didn’t know how to get at him. It allowed others to project on his canvas. After the thickly drawn George W. Bush, he seemed something refreshing: a mystery.

Okay, that’s enough. I kind of have this horrifying visual of her touching herself while she typed this.

that or fantasies of “spooning” the “pres”, Bob…ugh….this might as well be the “Ewww! of the day” as well

good lord…apparently she doesn’t know the categories of “idiot”, “plagiarist”, or “illegal alien” – all of which O falls under. I think we can categorize him JUST fine, thanks…

She should have written this on April Fools Day!

  5. Mauser Says:

“he [Obama] seemed something refreshing: a mystery.”

And as so many folks on The Price Is Right found out when they chose the mystery box, we all got a real booby prize.

  6. Hoss Says:

“but Mr. Obama possesses the canny knowledge that in modern politics, clarity can sometimes get in your way..”

Good grief. This statement alone destroys her thesis that Obama is some kind of singularity. He’s just another empty suit amongst the suits. And what are the chances if some Republican came into office as pres and promised that the top marginal tax rate was going to be 12%: would he be praised for his “grandiosity.” Doubt it. And Peggy, please stop the bullshit of historical revisionism in trying to paint him as some above the fray, mystery of modern politics.
There’s never been anything mysterious about him – he’s basically told us through his actions and judgement who he is and what he’s about from day Won.

  7. Be Not Idle » “The psychic woe beneath the economic blow” and other nonsense Says:

[...] The inimitable Bob Parks is sickened by Noonan’s love of the new President. Share and [...]

  8. MissJean Says:

Noonan is the same brainiac who wrote last month that she saw a link between the post-9/11 rise in use of anti-depressants and the Wall Street wackiness. No, I’m not kidding.

And to think I paid money for her book about Pope John Paul II.
