Hillary On Mexico Crisis: Blame America First

Hillary Clinton and Mexican President Felipe Calderon met in Mexico CityThis must be part of that restore-our-standing-in-the-world thing both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton campaigned on. Obama did his part with Gordon Brown, and now it’s Hillary’s turn.

Hillary Clinton has admitted that the US demand for illegal drugs and its consequent supply of weapons is fuelling the wave of violent killings in Mexico’s drug wars.

During a visit to Mexico, Clinton never wavered from a tone that repeatedly stressed the concept of “shared responsibility” that appeared designed to address historic Mexican sensibilities over heavy-handed treatment from its northern neighbour.

“We know very well that the drug traffickers are motivated by the demand for illegal drugs in the United States and that they are armed by the transport of weapons from the United States,” Clinton said.

So, when Bill smoked (but didn’t inhale) pot, he was contributing to the death of Mexicans. Is that how it works? Let’s hope Chelsea doesn’t stray in her progressive, socialite circles and have a Michael Phelps moment.

My understanding was that the Secretary of State was supposed to represent and promote our foreign policy. Instead (like a good little elitist liberal), Hillary Clinton blames us for the drug cartel violence spilling over the Mexican border into the United States, while ignoring their cronyism and condoning (and encouragement) of illegal immigration.

Priceless.

I’d say that it is our policy of making drugs illegal that help fund these gangs through bloated prices on otherwise cheap goods (relatively speaking) and Mexico’s policies on gun ownership (I assume they don’t allow for just anyone to own) that keeps the death count in North Mexico as high as it is.

  2. Dave J says:

Yeah ok, well I understand the drug problem, but who exactly is supplying the weapons and transporting them from the US?

  3. Nick says:

can’t wait till she & the entire administration are legally kicked out, starting at the head of the snake..at this point..we need an epic mulligan because the promises were sky high and there was almost no delivery ON them

“Change you can believe in”…..”just words, just speeches”

  4. Mauser says:

Kushin, even if they make drugs legal, it doesn’t mean the criminal gangs will stop selling them, or stop killing rivals in an effort to control more of the trade.

  5. Kushin Los says:

Mauser – Why buy from violent gang members when you can get it cheaper and safer at your general store? Why purchase your poison from Columbia when you can grow it yourself?

What happened when alcohol prohibition was overturned? Did the gangs that made money on them when they were illegal continue killing one another so they can still control the trade or did they just go into politics (Kennedys) now that they had the money to do so?

The problems we rail against when we speak on drugs (not to mention a number of other things) are the ones we helped put into place.

  6. mball2000 says:

I’m wondering what percentage of illegal drug users are Democrats!!

It seems unlikely that a President who thinks cocaine use is ok would fight his supporters over the drug issue.

  7. The Machine says:

Did you know that Mexico does not allow any citizen to own a firearm that is of a caliber that is in use by ANY military in the world? That worked out as well as Britain and Australia’s fiasco, didn’t it?

Where is the proof that said firearms are indeed getting into Mexico via the US?
