AIG: Congress Says Screw The Constitution

AIG and CongressIt’s my understanding the United States government cannot aim a tax at a particular person or company in order to punish. (Okay, tell that to smokers….) So much for what I know.

Acting with lightning speed, the Democratic-led House has approved a bill to slap punishing (90%) taxes on big employee bonuses from firms bailed out by taxpayers. The vote was 328-93.

Said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi: “We want our money back and we want our money back now for the taxpayers.”

“We want our money back and we want our money back now for the taxpayers.”

Forget about their blowing off binding contracts; the money doesn’t belong to Speaker Pelosi, and should they get that money “back”, will she give it to us as she says or will these incompetent politicians just turn around and use it for yet another ill-conceived spending spree?

As far as the constitutionality, I’m sure the courts will decide soon enough and hopefully the Congressional malfeasance that created this whole mess will come out for all to see.

I’m no AIG fan but I hope AIG sues the pants off Congress and laughs all the way to the bank. The Constitution has been lost. Ignored. Steam-rolled. Pick an adjective.

would that be the taxpayers and the illegal taxpayers?

Bonuses are already taxed at 25%. How long before the words “big” and “from firms bailed out by taxpayers” are struck from this possible law?

Why doesn’t Liddy tell them all to go “f” themselves and just walk out.

  7. Jimmy Z Says:

This is horrifying really… the American people have been duped as the press got them riled up over bonuses that were less than 1% of the bail out (WAY less) and meanwhile the democrats run a punitive tax through ignoring the Constitution. I never use this word, I hate this word, but goddamn these congressional douchebags. They are the ruling class, we are the peasants.
