The “Illegal, Immoral” War Excuse Again

If things should start getting crazy in Afghanistan, I’d be very curious to see how these objectors react to a conflict Obama didn’t ramp down as promised mere months ago?

A Green Bay soldier told the Army today that he won’t go back to Iraq because he believes the war is immoral.

Spc. Kristoffer Walker, 28, was scheduled to board a flight at Austin Straubel International Airport in Ashwaubenon this morning to return to Atlanta, where he was scheduled to rejoin the 353rd Transportation Unit deployed to Iraq in October. Walker has been home on leave the past two weeks.

Lt. Col. Nathan Banks, an Army spokesman at the Pentagon, said Walker did not follow military procedure by filling out paperwork to list himself as a conscientious objector.

And wait until you read why….

“His unit is counting on him,” Banks said. “He’s actually turning his back on his battle buddies. By just not reporting, you’re letting down your teammates. When you raise your right hand to defend the country, you knew there was a time you could possibly be deployed.”

Walker said he hasn’t pursued conscientious objector status because it would be futile.

“The Army’s definition is a little different than mine,” Walker said. “The Army’s definition is that you have to be opposed to war and all its forms. That’s not me. I absolutely support using military force to respond or retaliate to attack. By their standards, you’re not allowed to object to one conflict over another.”

So, again at the end of the day it was all about Spc. Walker and his definition of conscientious objector status.

That means I could rob a bank and say my definition of larceny was different than the police. That may be the case, but as I would be in the wrong (as I knew the rules before committing the crime) I’d be hauled off to jail.

That’s where Spc. Walker belongs.

D/B I would also like to thank you for your service. I attempted at 18 to join and become a military language specialist (perfect scores on the ASVAB and the language aptittude test)… but hypothyroidism kept me out.

I would love to be in service alongside you and the other men and women sacrificing so much to ensure our safety and security. Instead I am limited to giving you my heartfelt thanks and participating in our church’s ministry to send Bibles and necessaries to our servicemen overseas. God bless you all.

d/b, I also thank you for your service. The relative of a co-worker died in Afghanistan last week. He was an army medic.

Little dirtbag, hope he’s a–raped in prison. He signed the contract voluntarily. We’ve been at war now for almost 8 years and he just realized he doesn’t like war WTF doesn’t he read a newspaper. I’ve signed a contract just about every 6 years now for 24 years and getting ready to sign my last one(hopefully) this year. I know everything that entails, regardless of my feelings on the war if I get sent I’m going to fulfill my end of the deal. He just wants the college fund and the pay, then not to have to fulfill his end of the deal. Hopefully the Army tyies to get all that back from him along with interest!!
