The Latest Katrina Double Standard

I’m sure we all remember the pummeling President George W. Bush received over the federal response to New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. It was ugly. Even Barack Obama bashed President Bush on the subject. One would think President Obama’s stimulus plan would pour money into New Orleans’ levees in need.

Think again, and no Democrat is saying anything about it….

The economic stimulus signed by President Barack Obama will spread billions of dollars across the country to spruce up aging roads and bridges. But there’s not a dime specifically dedicated to fixing leftover damage from Hurricane Katrina.

And there’s no outrage about it.

Democrats who routinely criticized President George W. Bush for not sending more money to the Gulf Coast appear to be giving Obama the benefit of the doubt in his first major spending initiative.

And why are we surprised.

I had opportunity to visit New Orleans last spring and was suprised to see people STILL living in tents under the freeways, waiting for FEMA to rescue them.

Maybe they should hold up signs, saying, “Mr. Obama! I need a house!”

Don’t they know there are black people suffering in the big NO? Or do they figure it’s tit-for-tat for totally ignoring Kentucky?

Oh wait, didn’t I hear His Holiness made a special trip north today? What? He went to Canada? And he still couldn’t book Kentucky in, even as a coffee break? Oh wait, I forgot. There are 58 states in the US of O.

At least he’s not taking as long as (ahem) “Chimpy” took….(sarc).
