I guess you can’t really blame GM. Between liberal politicians, unions, and trial lawyers, why wouldn’t an American business seek a more benevolent, welcoming environment?
General Motors plans to invest $1 billion in Brazil to avoid the kind of problems the U.S. automaker is facing in its home market, said the beleaguered car maker.
According to the president of GM Brazil-Mercosur, Jaime Ardila, the funding will come from the package of financial aid that the manufacturer will receive from the U.S. government and will be used to “complete the renovation of the line of products up to 2012.”
Ask Ford…
We did warn our pious lawmakers about this. Then again, who are we to question their wisdom?

On one hand, I cant say I blame them with the rising demands set by the UAW. No union issues to deal with south of the border, but we do need jobs here.
Let’s not forget the $300 million they’ve already invested in Russia.

Making cars and selling cars at home is the least of GM’s concerns these days. Recovery for them is definitely in St. Elsewhere. The question isn’t what our lawmakers think of this. It’s what the unions think of it and what the lawmakers are dangling in the stimulus to “make nice” with the unions … in lieu of.
And let’s not forget how the level of technology at that Ford plant in Brazil along with having its own dock is simply not possible in the States because the Union demands would make it too expensive to even think about.
Oh and let’s not forget the fifth new plant they opened in China, in April of last year….

…. leading to their eighth, in December of last year.

And then there’s the second one they opened in India, also last year.

And here’s one they’re looking to open in Uzbekistan, announced December of last year.

Oh, and their “first plug-in battery assembly plant”, in South Korea, just announced today.

Shall I go on?
The Dems’ Massively Moronic Messaging Machine should do some serious messaging…. of stone-cold reality ….to the unions, instead of their endless litany of, “I see skies of blue…”, and “Card Check Your Way to Pennies From Heaven” finger-painting masterpieces from the Dustbin Museum of Socialist Ideologies.
Keep making the list, we’ll need it when we declare our independence.

Maybe it would be better to learn Portugese and immigrate to find work in Brazil.
That would be in my right to do so.
