A Tale Of Two FEMAs

Amidst all the reports (or lack thereof) of the Kentucky ice storm and rave reviews of the newly-rejuvenated Federal Emergency Management Agency, let’s not forget about the source of all these rave reviews: the mainstream media.

We’re supposed to believe that a transition period and two weeks has transformed a federal government agency? Puh-leez.

Unlike Katrina, the most devastating natural disaster to hit the US, and one where the people of New Orleans had ample time to make arrangements to move, this ice storm left little time for response for residents impacted.

The “smart” administration should’ve been all over this anyway.

So 42 people have died… so far. And 1.3M people are without power, yet again no outcry from the media. I guess because there aren’t enough ‘victims of choice’, so the media has chosen to be relatively silent on coverage… oh, and on Obama’s lack of adequate response?

When the lights went out during Obama’s multi-million dollars lobbyist funded vacation in Hawaii, they provided three backup generators for him within hours. FEMA can’t seem to get generators to hospitals, nursing homes, and residents who are fighting for their lives, and they have had the better part of a week.

The very people who hated George W. Bush and his FEMA leadership, are turning their adoring heads away from a tragic situation because they don’t involve their favorite black victims, but “ordinary people” who aren’t as sympathetic to them. This coverage is a sham, the FEMA response is suspect, and our president’s conduct will be remembered by the people of the mid-South (whose votes he won’t need anyway).

There are no deaths in Kentucky, Bob. There is no loss of power to millions. There were no ice storms. There is no infrastructure damage. And people do not freeze when the global temperature is clearly rising and the temperature in the Oval Office is a balmy Hawaiian short-sleeves 72 degrees.

You’re just bitter and clinging to your guns because you weren’t invited to PBO’s Super Bowl party.

Besides, you’re mistaken in thinking Kentucky is one of PBO’s 58 United States of America. The name of the state you’re thinking of is … Ken-y-a.

I shoulda’ listened to the college kid.

    @Bob:

    Ouch.

having a hard time deciding if the first comment was sarcasm or not.

Meh not going to waste energy on that one.

Events like what is happening in kentucky is part of the reason why I hate that nasty fact that collective memory lasts no longer than 6 months.

If the media ignores it, in 6 months everyone, or almost, will have forgotten about it, and thus, like “The Party”‘s slogan: “He who controls the past, controls the future, and he who controls the present controls the past.”

I think Dissent was being sarcastic by imitating what that punk-ass college kid MIGHT’ve said, and Bob was in on the joke, Fbio

anyway, that’s a great picture, Bob. I’ve NEVER seen an ice storm like THAT before and hole….eee…CRAP is that picture FRIGHTENING. I’ve seen the usual Winter blast on TV in the Lake Tahoe area, but NOTHING like Kentucky….that’s a new one…

Help me out here — I’m confused. I was just discussing this briefly with a liberal that they pointed me to this article as proof that O has responded:

    What’s the truth?

Ok, never mind, never mind! I found this:
