The “Rangel Rule”

Legislation with Congressman Charlie Rangel‘s name on it would be a good thing.

Americans may be able to rest a little easier this April if Congressman John Carter, R-Texas gets his way. Rep. Carter introduced a bill Wednesday to eliminate all IRS penalties and interest for paying taxes past due.

The legislation calls for the creation of what he calls the, “Rangel Rule,” — drawing attention to the recent legal issues of House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Charlie Rangel, D-N.Y., enabling citizens who fail to pay taxes on time to do so later with no additional fees.

Rangel, who writes the country’s tax policies, acknowledged last fall that he failed to pay thousands in real estate taxes for rental income he earned from a property in the Dominican Republic.

Is it me or do the Republicans seem to be having fun?

i always thought congressman rangel was a dumbass.
then i heard/read about his service in korea.
aside from damn near getting frozen to death, what he went through, i thought that if someone does that in service to his country, he should be able to say whatever he wants to say and be given a fair listen to.
so this past election cycle i listened to congressman rangel.
i was right the first time.

Does the right only thrive as a minority? It seems like the only time we get any fire and principle out of them is when they’re relegated to the sidelines. Good for Carter, I love a smartass.

I hope it passes, it can be used to begin to end the forced taxation of Americans.
