MoveOn Email Misinformation

Got my latest MoveOn.org email this morning, and man, how dumb they think their followers are.

Dear MoveOn member,
The bad news: As of this morning, unemployment hit a 16-year high. We’re in trouble.

The good news: Yesterday, President-elect Obama laid out a bold plan for how to get us out of this economic crisis and invest in 3 million jobs. It’s smart and progressive—doubling clean energy production, providing health care for laid-off workers, and offering real relief to struggling states.

But the most important parts are already under attack by oil and health insurance lobbyists, joined by congressional conservatives who want to replace these progressive provisions with tax cuts for the rich.

If that’s the case, how would MoveOn explain this…?

President-elect Barack Obama’s economic recovery plan ran into crossfire from his own party in Congress on Thursday, suggesting that quick passage of spending programs and tax cuts could require more time and negotiation than Democrats once hoped.

This New York Times article spends more time describing what steps Obama need do to appease Democrats than MoveOn’s charicature of Republican and lobbyist obstruction.

Like I said, liberals only need the ability to read, and not just Paul Krugman.

  1. MissJean says:

Hoss, I have to disagree with you. Every time I hear “progressive”, I think of “progressive cancer”. And that describes these radicals to a T.

Love the ultimate oxymoron in the story: “smart and progressive”.

  2. Hoss says:

Congressional Conservatives………what is there, maybe 5 of them? That’s exceptionally weak, even for the lefties, when they have to blame the right, which has zero Congressional power – and will soon have even less, for any obstructionism. What a bunch of bitches.

And can they stop with the progressive crap. There is nothing remotely “progressive” about pulling out tired old socialist/collectivist policies that have proven time after time throughout history to be abysmal failures. Maybe it’s like how you call a fat guy “Slim”,… and calling themselves “Regressives” is too much like the truth for them(don’t forget, they also hijacked the term liberal).
