Obama’s Empty Gaza Suit

In around three weeks, Barack Obama won’t have George Bush’s back to piggy on. He will actually have to formulate opinions and articulate them to the general public.

The horror.

When it comes to repairing the faltering U.S. economy, Barack Obama offers vision, numbers and detail. But as Israeli bombs and Palestinian rockets explode in the Middle East, the president-elect has responded with silence.

With 20 days until he takes office, Obama is likely to encounter a region reshaped by new violence once he becomes commander in chief. But he has refused to engage in diplomatic conversation before then, insisting that to do so would undermine President Bush. “President-elect Obama is closely monitoring global events, including the situation in Gaza, but there is one president at a time,” said Brooke Anderson, Obama’s national security spokeswoman.

Seeing how the majority of those who support him oppose Israel, Obama is once again showing the courage of a politician who is all things to (almost) all things.

    But he had absolutely no qualms about undermining Bush and engaging in diplomatic conversation while he was merely campaigning to be President….

    Is this what Biden had in mind? Or worse more to come? Do you think Hamas would have attacked right now if McCain would have won?

    @ecotim:

    the world will never know if Hamas would have attacked if McCain had won.

    As for “is this what Biden had in mind”, for the crisis that he predicted Obama would face… who knows?

    All I know is that there might be a few QB sacks tallied against the O’ Team 4 years from now

    @Brandon:

    This is what I find weird. During the campaign he was interfering in foreign affairs, before he even became the Democrat candidate, and now all we hear from his camp, after all this ballyhoo with “The Office of the President-Elect” is that “there’s only one POTUS at a time”

    I know that, I just want to know what the next one in line THINKS of the situation that the current POTUS is taking care of… is he supportive of those measures, is he opposed? I assume he is, but all we can do is “hope” he’ll give us an answer.
