Viral Email Of The Day

For some strange reason, this one seemed to slip by the media…

This was the largest re-enlistment ceremony ever held in military history. The ceremony was held on the 4th of July, 2008 at Al Faw Palace, Baghdad, Iraq . General David Petraeus officiated. This amazing story was ignored by the ‘mainstream’ media.

For those who have been in the Al Faw Palace, you’ll have a better appreciation of the number of people crammed around the rotunda supporting the re-enlisting soldiers.

American men and women volunteering to stay longer in Iraq, so that when we leave, the new democracy will have a chance of surviving, is the exact opposite of what the media wants you to think about Iraq. If only a bomb had killed 5 civilians in a marketplace – now that’s the kind of news the media is eager to tell you about.

A pizzeria in Chicago donated 2000 pizzas that were made and shipped toBaghdad , and were delivered on the 4th.

The media did report that 2000 pizzas were sent to Iraq on July 4th… The only part they left out of the report was the event for which the pizzas were sent.

All the news that’s fit to print, right?

According to Snopes, this is true and was picked up by the AP and other news services. But it certainly didn’t seem to get the press that a bombing gets. Pretty impressive and has to make you proud of the men and women that are serving.

@machine: oh I agree with you. I was simply pointing it out because it looked similar.

But saying the US assured the victory over Nazi germany is a bit egocentric. My own country fought hard, had its own beachhead at d-day and was fighting before the US got involved. I must admit that without the US, things were looking bleak, but the US is not solely responsible for the victory over the Nazis. every participating country had its role to play, no matter how important. the US troops probably could not have progressed so well in France if it weren’t for the resistance movement, for example.

The US deserves credit for what they did in WW2, but not ALL the credit.

Video of General Petraeus speaking at the reenlistment.

It’s a beautiful thing seeing hundreds of crisp salutes for a great country and a great general.

  4. The Machine says:

Um, that’s the flag of the nation that assured victory over the Nazis, mssr.

You might as well condemn us because we too carry rifles and wear boots and helmets.

    We good.

    They bad.

    See how that works?

It is not the set of tools, it is what you do with them.

Just feel like mentionning it because i’m not in complete disagreement…

but a friend of mine at work told me, when i showed him the first photo taken in this article, that it looks alot like old Nazi photos (complete with flag in the background).

If instead of a salute, these soldiers had the “Heil Hitler” thing going, it’d be pretty scary.

Going back to my own opinion of this: Good to see that even though the people at home want to end that war, the soldiers feel they have something to contribute.

Pretty damn cool if you ask me.

  7. The Machine says:

Gee, I wonder what percentage of those Great Americans are going to run for political office or otherwise be very politically active when they return to civilian life?

    Booya.

If the American people want a true account of what is happening in Iraq or Afghanistan, email or visit a Blog that are available to our troups. There are more than just a few, where you can actually correspond with people that know the real truth as to what is happening there. Our fighting men & women know what is happening, & unlike the Left Wing MSM & other Media that lie to the American people, they tell it like it is. That is not to say that there are not soldiers that are not happy being there, but the largest percentage feel we are doing the right thing. If nothing else, send them encouragement that we, the American public, are proud of them & will support their efforts to keep us out of harms way. They do their job by protecting us & it is our job to to let them know we support their efforts & sacrifice, including their families left behind.
