“Gang Rape” Jokes Not Funny
We mere ordinary people obviously didn’t get the comedic sophistication intended.
A Boston shelter for homeless women has dropped controversial comedian Sandra Bernhard as the marquee speaker at its annual fund-raising event because of her “gang rape” joke about Sarah Palin.
Sue Marsh, executive director of Rosie’s Place, said today that she learned of Bernhard’s remarks yesterday after getting an e-mail about them.
“We were horrified so we decided that we wouldn’t have her at our event,” Marsh said.
Welcome to the club. Many of us wouldn’t want Sandra Bernhard anywhere near us.

What amazed me about Bernhard’s statement was that there seemed to be no outrage. She did two things:
- she made light of rape
- she played into the idea that black men are just seconds away from raping women
And this from a woman who claims to be supporting Obama!!! And no one seemed bothered by this.
I don’t get it.
