Islam vs. Free Speech

“Religulous”, Bill Maher’s new cinematic slam on religion may not immediately seem like an exercise in courage. But I’ll have to hand it to Maher. When it comes to making fun of some traditions, considering what is happening in other parts of the world, taking on Islam was ballsy.

I’d be very interested to see how much Maher’s insurance policy rates increase after this movie goes into wide circulation. That is, if he can get an insurance policy.

Then again, as we’re dealing with liberals, Maher and his people had to deceive to get this picture made.

So why did Maher’s subjects sit down with him? It’s difficult to imagine any religious person familiar with his politics and godlessness actually agreeing to an interview.

The fact is, nobody knew whom they were dealing with until it was too late.

“We never, ever used my name,” Maher told the L.A. Times’ Patrick Goldstein of how the interviews were arranged. “We never told anybody it was me who was going to do the interviews. We even had a fake title for the film. We called it ‘A Spiritual Journey.’”

While I haven’t seen the movie, that explains why so many would make themselves available to be made to look the fool.

That’s courage.

Liberals don’t lie or slander. They espouse the truth according to their distorted, surrealistic view of reality.

  2. The Machine says:

    No, that’s called, “Lying”.

Since he has admitted the lie, er, “subterfuge” trick, very likely that some of the people can seek litigation.

    They should.

    I would.

But then I wouldn’t agree to be interviewed by someone I had not vetted.

    duh
