While the punditry claims no one clearly won the debate, there were some awkward moments…
Barack Obama has a bracelet, too.
That inartful comeback will likely filter out through the political ether in the days ahead. What might not filter through our partisan press is that shortly after pointing out that, like John McCain, he sports a bracelet given to him by a military family, Barack Obama had to stop and look down find out the name of the soldier he’s honoring.
That soldier is Ryan David Jopek. Barack Obama doesn’t appear to have known that fact.
Many did pick up on it.
However, many didn’t.
No mention of Obama’s gaffe by Reuters reporter Jeremy Pelofsky.
UK Guardian unsurprisingly misses it as well.

And now I read in the American Thinker Blog that maybe the mother requested earlier this year that he NOT wear the bracelet.

Well, I heard Michelle has a charm bracelet with little miniature Obama seals alternating with little miniature Obama coin replicas. He gave it to her on the plane between campaign stops while sitting in his “President” chair on his private jet. He was said to have murmered… “Thank you, sweetie for helping me shuck and jive the stupid hoi polloi of American into believing I’m their savior”.
Sgt. uh… uh… I doubt he’d wear the bracelet off camera. He doesn’t want to be seen associating with anyone in uniform for the most part (military, police, corrections officers, the people that guilty people don’t like).
Surprising since some of his friends and supporters have worn uniforms: matching jumpsuits with the name of whatever local, county, state or federal penitentiary they “work” for. When asked why they were there, the simple response would be: “We were out trying to get more people to register to vote and decided that dressing like them would exemplify the solidarity and unity we’re trying to engender throughout the 59 socialist states of America.”
Ya know what? I really didn’t care that Obama had to look down at his bracelet. Maybe he was nervous and didn’t want to mess up the name. I’m totally willing to give him a pass.
But make no mistake, the same media that is ignoring it is making a big deal out of McCain tripping over A’jad’s name. (Like none of them have ever done that in front of the camera before.)

Have we ever seen this bracelet before? I know that Nobama likes to roll-up his sleeves like a good ‘ole boy, but I don’t ever recall seeing this. I may be wrong.
He almost made a “Biden” by coming close to saying, “I got this bracelet from uh Sgt” (who was KIA) until he caught himself, and said “from his mother.”
Like ANYBODY really thinks he gives a shit. He probably does it to remind himself that this is an imperialist assassin from the damned US military industrial-complex who got what he deserved from Afghani/Iraqi freedom fighters.
And no, that’s not hyperbole either.
The real problem is that he DID read the name beforehand, he is such an empty suit that he couldn’t be expected to remember something like that.
And — While McCain has had his bracelet on for many months, Barrack’s bracelet is very likely very new. Anybody spotted that thing before this appearance?
Wonder how much he had to pay for it…
UhhhhBama should take the bracelet off for the dishonor he has shown to Ryan Jopek and the Jopek family. Don’t forget – Jopek died doing what he volunteered to do.
Hell, that was probably the first time he ever bothered to read the name on it. I bet that makes Jopek’s family glad to see how he honors their son.
