A Homeless Drop: This Can’t Be

When a Democrat is in The White House, we hardly ever see any stories in the media about the homeless. However, when a Republican is president, homelessness is portrayed as a problem that’s been ignored for years, if not gotten worse.

For that reason, this is puzzling…

The U.S. had 12% fewer homeless last year than in 2005, and the greatest decline occurred among those who chronically live on the streets or in emergency shelters, according to a federal report to be released Tuesday.

Twelve percent is nothing to shake a stick at. I’m sure CNN will get into more details about this tonight.

I don’t know how this can be happening during this lousy “Bush economy”…

“This is a success story,” says Dennis Culhane, a University of Pennsylvania professor and co-author of the report by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). He attributes the decline to better tracking and to increased efforts to house the “chronically homeless” — disabled adults who are continuously homeless for at least a year.

Okay, that last line blew it.

It was the ACLU that successfully sued California for committing people against their will. Thus hundreds of thousands of people who couldn’t take care of themselves were thrown onto the streets.

Round two?

You know, if I were really homeless, I think I’d take up mugging these guys.

  2. Henry says:

“you can catch them ending their shift and going to a nice car.”

    No joke.

  3. Mauser says:

I wonder if the “Homeless” includes the professional beggars we have infesting out off-ramps. They’re so well-distributed, they must have dispatchers or something. And if you can, you can catch them ending their shift and going to a nice car.
