Pelosi And Reid Have Fingers In The Wind
While the American people have shown more common sense than our political leaders, the Democrat grand poobahs are looking for a way out from their public stubbornness, and are steering into even more perilous waters with their environmentalist base.
Are the Democratic leaders in Congress nervous about the growing grass-roots demand for lifting restrictions on domestic oil drilling?
Consider this: Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has himself proposed a plan to open new areas for oil exploration – outraging senior members of his own caucus.
Think about it. Reid got all these Democrats to fall in line, enraging their activist constituents, and now he’s decided to cut them off at the knees. An inspiring example of leadership.
But it gets better….
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, ever aware of the way average Americans are being squeezed at the gas pump and through rising inflation due to higher energy prices, is supporting the plan.
While the proposal is drawing shrieks from those Democrats occupying safe seats in the House and Senate, it shows how vulnerable congressional Democrats might be to an uprising from voters in November.
“Uprising”? Let’s try “revolt”.
Now, the funky part will be how Pelosi and Reid decide to spin this. Like Barack Obama who opposed the Iraq War and Surge (and still cannot find it within himself to admit his military and political outcome predictions were in error), can the Democrat leadership convince the American people that they were for drilling before they opposed it?
Unlike the war that most Americans haven’t experienced personally, millions have had to sacrifice because of the Democrat allegience to environmentalist groups.
Reid and Pelosi chose poorly. Will the Democrats pay at the ballot box as Americans have had to pay at the pumps?
We shall see.

This is amazing, isn’t Harry the guy who said “oil and coal make us sick”. Me thinks he is choking a little on that one and the one where he said “the war is lost”.
He is without a doubt the most dismal Senator ever elected, at least in my memory.

What’s Bush’s approval rating down to now anyway?
July 29th, 2008 at 9:02 pm
About twice that of congress.

You stepped in that one, Blaine.

I’m not surprised, there’s still 199 Republicans left.

And the rest are Marxists. I will stick with Americans.

No matter how much Blaine may try he will never win the battle. His last comment was too funny:
“I’m not surprised, there’s still 199 Republicans left.”
He forgets or more likely just plain fails to mention that Congress’ approval rating was much higher before the Dems took control.
Some may say that the American people “spoke” when the elected the Dems to control of Congress but anyone with an unbiased bone in their body knows that the win wasn’t a win per se but a loss for Conservatives as many of us withheld our votes in order to send our elected Republicans a message that we would not tolerate their liberal actions.

“I’m not surprised, there’s still 199 Republicans left.”
So in your mind, a monolithic government – one party of “progressive” thinking Dems would somehow change that approval rating to a percentage bordering on sunshine and happiness?

I’m surprised there are any Democrats or Republicans in office anymore. I know some of My Republicans friends will get mad at me but I no longer support ether party, We have 2 parties the Democrats ( the spend and tax party) and the Republicans ( the tax and borrow party) I now joined the Constitution Party and will be voting for Chuck Baldwin. I know, I know, I’m throwing away my vote, but come on, Mc Cain? He’s as Socialist as Obama. I.e.. the McCain Feingold bill and the McCain Kennedy bill. Although Blaine, arguing President Bush’s approval rating when the Democratic congress is half of Bush’s is a no win. Oh the heck with it, Maxine Walters For President!!!!!!!!
