I must offer my sincerest apology to our servicemembers overseas, as well as those who’ve served during our current conflict. All this time, many of us were crediting the Surge success to our soldiers, led by General Petraeus.
But Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has set us all straight. Our soldiers, risking their lives, aren’t responsible for the reduction of violence in Iraq and the solidifying of their government. According to Madam Speaker, we should all be thanking… Iran.
Well, the purpose of the surge was to provide a secure space, a time for the political change to occur to accomplish the reconciliation. That didn’t happen. Whatever the military success, and progress that may have been made, the surge didn’t accomplish its goal. And some of the success of the surge is that the goodwill of the Iranians – they decided in Basra when the fighting would end, they negotiated that cessation of hostilities – the Iranians.

So all you servicemembers in theater, while we praise you, your efforts, and sacrifices, Speaker Pelosi has reminded us who is really responsible for the “relative” calm you now enjoy. Please feel free to contact Speaker Pelosi and thank her for clearing up this unfortunate misunderstanding.

The saddest part is our younger generations (college, high school kids) are in total agreement with her, the Kennedy’s and Obama! They can’t think for themselves or question anymore and that’s how we’re gonna lose our country!
