So, what are we talking about today?
Michelle Obama’s “pride”, Joran’s dope-induced braggadocio, Hillary on Barack’s “change we can Xerox”, Drew Peterson’s borrowed time, Ralph Nader’s every-four-year crusade, The New York Times’ McCaining, the snow, and the rain?
If not for these stories, what might we be talking about? One story would surely be the lead. It’s just a question of how the mainstream media would handle it.

MINNEAPOLIS — A woman who authorities say is in the country illegally and using an alias was charged Friday with four counts of criminal vehicular homicide and two lesser charges in a school bus crash that killed four children.
This is a no-brainer, that is unless you’re trapped in the progressive mindset.
How should they handle a story where “the children” are victims of a woman (normally media-coveted), who just happens to be an illegal alien (an unfairly persecuted victim of xenophobia)? Simple. Just ignore it.
A woman who identified herself as Alianiss Nunez Morales, 23, of Minnesota, was driving a van that failed to stop at a stop sign Tuesday before hitting a bus carrying 28 students from Lakeview School, Lyon County Attorney Richard Maes said. The accident happened near the small town of Cottonwood, in southwestern Minnesota.
Regrettably, this is not news. These kinds of incidents happen almost every day in more and more parts of America. Drunk and/or unlicensed illegal aliens hit-and-run (when physically possible to flee) innocent Americans every day. We don’t often hear about these stories, especially from news outlets that have the liberal mission, purely because it goes against all their templates.
But in the coming days and weeks, how will they succeed in hiding the facts behind this case? It will be near impossible to hide inconvenient facts like four young school children are now dead because of a woman who entered our country illegally, driving without a license, running a stop sign, and colliding with a school bus with such force as to upend it.
According to the criminal complaint filed Friday, Morales used an interpreter to tell police that she stopped at the stop sign.
“She stated that she stopped for the stop sign and that when she took off, the bus hit her,” according to a statement of probable cause.
That’s Ms. Morales’ (24-year-old Olga Marina Franco from Guatemala) side of the story. Many will want believe her.
The bus driver and at least one motorist said Morales did not stop at the stop sign, court documents said. The bus driver, Dennis Devereaux, told police it appeared the van wasn’t going to stop, and “he did not have time to hit the brakes or accelerate.”
So, here’s the media quandary. Whom do we believe? Under normal circumstances, we’d take the word of those who witnessed the incident, vice those of an undocumented, unlicensed driver. But the progressives will view this another way….
Olga Marina Franco is just a poor woman here to make a better life for her family. She’s here in the United States doing work Americans won’t do. It’s the fault of exploitive American corporations who hire the undocumented. It’s the fault of the Border Patrol for not catching her. It’s the fault of opportunistic politicians that wouldn’t give Ms. Morales a driver’s license, regardless of her immigrant status.
Olga Marina Franco is the victim, not Jesse Javens, 13, and Hunter Javens, 9; Reed Stevens, 12; Emilee Olson, 9, and the fourteen others who were hurt in the crash. It’s probably going to be considered by some as racist and unfair to pile on the fact that, according to court records, Franco was convicted in 2006 of driving without a valid driver’s license.
As I’ve written many times before (I don’t mind repeating), while “ordinary people” like us are victims of illegals, it’s no big deal. There will be Britney tantrums and tornados and presidential polls that will distract us. This plague of illegals and their crimes will never be taken as a serious issue until the next victim is a politician or his or her relatives. Illegal-alien-murder-victim Adrianne Shelley wasn’t a big enough actress to cause any kind of meaningful, media uproar.
If an elderly person is hit and killed in a crosswalk by a drunk illegal behind the wheel, that’s a one-day story. But if one of those children killed in the school bus were one of Nancy Pelosi’s grandkids, we’d have almost immediate congressional hearings, new bills of enforcement (probably named after the grandchild) would be introduced, and the War on Terrible Illegals would be officially underway.
Until that unfortunate day, we are all at the mercy of illegal aliens. Some of our government officials are currently looking into all kinds of “mechanisms” that will mainstream people who, from Day One, had no respect for our border or our laws. No matter how many neighborhoods they devalue with their Third World habits and gang imports, progressives will find a way to make that our fault. No matter how many teenage girls they kidnap, rape, torture, and murder, progressives will find a way to make that our fault.
How many more people, and now children, will be sacrificed until politicians heed the Constitution instead of popularity polls? I can’t answer that. Unfortunately as most of our elected have no conscience, they won’t be haunted by their lack of action, and the media will figure what they don’t report will all go away.
Too bad that doesn’t work with illegal aliens.
