Craig vs. Hillary: Timing Is Everything

This whole Senator Larry Craig thing stinks.

Not because of his resignation from the United States Senate, or his guilty plea without the services of a lawyer. This stinks because of the timing.

larrycraig-mug.jpgLarry Craig may be a hypocrite, seeing how he votes one way and apparently cruises another. He obviously displayed poor judgment. He got caught doing something very dumb and public. Instead of circling the wagons and denying everything, Republicans on Capitol Hill demanded Craig’s head and threw it under the bus.

But this whole episode never reached the expected crescendo after his arrest on June 11th. A United States Senator arrested for lewd conduct. His police interview from that day (without counsel) is now public. He plead guilty, and maybe should’ve talked to a lawyer first. But the amount of restraint, discipline, and discretion displayed by the Idaho Scotsman in their lengthy investigation, given today’s acidic political climate, was astounding and extremely rare.

So, what does this have to do with Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton? Probably nothing, but I have suspicions regarding the timing. Norman Hsu, one of the top money guys for Democrats, including Mrs. Clinton, is now being held on $2 million bond for questionable fundraising activities. It’s almost been watered down to the point of irrelevance. Why, because the media is centered on Larry Craig.

Yes, this is a conspiracy theory. Where there’s smoke, there’s Clinton Inc.

the-clintons.jpgIf not for Craig, some of the media would been digging up all the familiar names and scandals from what we affectionately refer to as Chinagate. But because of the belated release of the Craig story, Hillary issued one statement on Hsu and moved on. If not for the lack of media impartiality, there would be no need to suspect anything.

But there were no leaks by any of the participants in Idaho, and none from the usual leeches in the major media in close to two months, from the time of Craig’s arrest until a couple of days after the Hsu funny money story broke.

Something here just isn’t right….

Gee, but I thought “Everybody lies about sex,” so it was okay….

Of course, Craig didn’t actually have sex. Maybe that’s why the Democrats have a problem with him. If he’d actually been shagging a guy in the restroom, how could they oppose that?

The big difference between Republicans and Democrats is that Republicans hold themselves to higher standards. And then Democrats hold Republicans to even Higher standards. If the Republicans don’t demand that a Republican resign, (Tom DeLay) the Democrats will. But nobody ever demands that a Democrat resign. It annoys me sometimes when the Republicans bow to the pressure, because the Democrats demand resignations over trivial matters just to try to swing the votes their way.

The most worrisome thing about the whole Craig mess is that it seems that no matter what you do in the Men’s room, no matter how normal or mundane, it’s apparently some kind of secret signal for a gay sexual act. I don’t want to even speculate what sort of sordid activity I’m volunteering for by taking two squirts of soap from the dispenser when I wash my hands….

It’s all about misdirection. Magicians use it all the time. Hell despite how much crap liberals say about Bush not winning the election in 2000, I always laugh at the fact that Willie got elected twice where over 50% of the people wanted a different president. I know you see it all the time, Republicans screw up a little and liberals throw it in the worlds face, but when a dem gets busted with over 90k in bribe money, or assaults a cop, there is some right wing conspiracy. Hell Even Hugo Chavez blamed bush for the $800k he sent to Argentina as a campaign contribution. In fact, I wander where some of the money that was donated came from…
