Granholm And The Detroit Shuffle

Over the years, Democrats have mastered the art of name-calling. Whether it be the use of the race card, or outright calling Republicans murderers, the Dems sure do dish it. However, it’s truly educational to watch them become so unbalanced when they are given a small but effective dose of their own medicine.

It’s also sad to watch a Republican apologize for a valid slam, not because he’s being nice, but because he’s an ignoramus.

On the Friday June 7th edition of the Detroit News, the following headline appeared with a “controversial” ad underneath:

Anti-Granholm ad taps Nazi images
Full-page splash in the Michigan Chronicle urges African-Americans to ditch allegiance to Democrats

On face value, this is a valid ad.

Even activists like Al Sharpton have said that the black vote should not be taken for granted. Now whether that was to position himself as some kind of mass vote broker, or just to add to his ego relevance, who can say for sure?

I’ve finally found “Nazi images” mentioned. There’d be no hooplah if this were a Democrat ad. Funny how that works….

The Detroit News article led off this way:

ad.jpgA full-page ad in this week’s Michigan Chronicle urging African-Americans to not vote for Gov. Jennifer Granholm and other Democrats this fall and featuring pictures of the governor as well as Adolf Hitler and a swastika, touched off a political firestorm Thursday.

The ad in the Chronicle, which has a large African-American readership, claims that for the last half-century, Democratic Party leaders have relied on blacks to be “foot soldiers” and that their reward has been a dependency on welfare, high unemployment and a disproportionate number of black men locked up in prison.

Folks, this is politics and it gets nasty.

“It has been described to me. To compare me, Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter to Hitler is reprehensible. And I do think people will want to know who is responsible for it.”
– Governor Granholm

Democrats have used the reference to Der Fuhrer towards Republicans quite often. Apologies are seldom offered.

New York Congressman Charles Rangel on Republicans: “Just like under Hitler….”

And what about the “claim” that Democrats use blacks as “foot soldiers” isn’t true?

After almost a half a century of unflinching loyalty to the Democrat Party, what do black people have to show for it? Every social ill in this nation is magnified many-fold in the black community, despite being led by black city councilpersons, black congresspersons, black school superintendents, black police chiefs, and the Democrat Party in general.

Not that I’d call it a reward but a sentence, the ad run in the Michigan Chronicle is factually correct. In the black community, there is a dependency on welfare, high unemployment, and a disproportionate number of black men locked up in prison. Democrats promise to fix things every two years and have yet to follow through.

“And now during this crucial election year, the Democrats expect African American voters to stay in their place,” the ad says. “African American voters should not only demand respect from the Democrats but also stop putting all their eggs in one basket. Say NO to Governor Granholm in November.”

Okay, maybe picking on Granholm may be a bit harsh.

Man, that was a sexist remark. I’ll take that back….

There is a new phenomenon in recent politics that’s scaring the shit out of Democrats: Republicans exposing revisionist history. The unveiling of truth that when fully exposed may mean the end of the Democrat Party as a power. Seeing how the last few presidential elections have been razor close, the loss of the insured black vote would be irreparable.

The times, they are a changin’.

Dick DeVos, the Republican who is challenging Granholm, was quick to denounce the ad.

“There is no place in Michigan politics for this ad,” DeVos said. “It is appalling and this approach is despicable and wrong. Use of imagery and text that trivialize the worst tragedy of the 20th Century is disgraceful and vile.”

Mr. DeVos may be taking the high ground today, but he is a fool. Let’s see what Dick says when he becomes the target of the routine race-salvos as we get closer to Election Day.

Should he have taken the golden opportunity to give ol’ Detroit a history lesson, as many of us have done in the recent years, he could have been in the middle of the turning point of American politics. Instead, with his tail firmly planted between his legs, he has given the Democrats yet another space to wiggle out from.

Chris DeWitt, Granholm’s campaign spokesman, said Granholm is the leader of a “very inclusive party and the most diverse administration in the nation.”

He took exception to the ad’s photographs of Democratic presidents Lyndon Johnson, Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton.

“To say these presidents took African-Americans for granted is an equal outrage. President Johnson was the one who signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964,” DeWitt said. “The real question is who is behind this and what are their motives?

Chris DeWitt is clearly replying to the insinuation that Democrats have a past, not all that kind to black folk. Where would anyone get that outrageous idea? Liberals love black people…!

Dan Rather slamming CBS news execs for forcing him to report on Gary Condit: What happened was they (CBS management) got the willies; they got the Buckwheats.”

CBS’ Mike Wallace on why blacks and Hispanics have difficulty filling out loan applications: They were too busy “eating watermelons and tacos” to learn how to read and write.

Cruz Bustamante, former California Lieutenant Governor after a speech in which he used the word “nigger” in front of a group of black trade unionists: A slip of the tongue….”

While repetition is a tried and true method of education, we’ve been all through this here before. History and its aftermath have clearly shown the Democrats have an almost genocidal racist distinction leaving a legacy of despair that continues today with regards to black people. Either Mr. DeWitt believes the talking points he’s spewing, or he’s yet another liberal who believes blacks are stupid enough to fall for this revised party propaganda again.

As for Lyndon Johnson, he signed a Civil Rights Act his own party mostly voted against, and passed ONLY because of overwhelming Republican support. Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton felt black pain, yet in twelve years combined did little to ease it.

Tina Abbott, vice chairwoman of the Michigan Democratic Party, was equally incensed.

“This is not politics: It is fear mongering and race-baiting of the worst kind. I’m very upset about this,” she said. “It’s outrageous to compare any American to Hitler, a man who murdered people for a living.

I’m sure it doesn’t feel good, Tina.

When it comes to an ideology that prides itself on it’s own intellectual superiority, liberals sure have a thin skin when it comes to being on the receiving end of a valid political argument. What’s ironic is that Democrats use the race card to arouse voter anger constantly, yet when Republicans remind blacks of history, Democrats call it race-baiting and get all upset.

They also have short, conveniently short, memories when it comes to their own use of outrageous Nazi analogies….

Mario Cuomo, former governor of New York: Republican storm troopers.”

Chris Matthews, quoting John F. Kennedy when he likened Republicans on tax cuts to the Nazi Party: Ich bin ein Berliner?”

Al Sharpton: Conservatives want to “do the same thing to us Hitler in his wickedness and evil” did to Jews.

Hawaii ACLU board of directors on Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas: An Antichrist. A Hitler. If not Hitler, he is a Goebbels.”

I can hardly find any kind of sympathy for those who use inflammatory rhetoric, and later cry like a child who dropped a lollipop in the dirt when they get it back.

The ad was paid for by Voice the Vote, a little-known political action committee.

Nataki Harbin is the PAC treasurer and an employee at Adolph Mongo & Associates, a Detroit-based political consulting firm.

“This ad is not about associating Hitler with Gov. Granholm. It’s about choice,” she said.

The ad also features a picture of Jesse Owens, a black American athlete and gold-medal winner in the 1936 Munich Olympics.

“Jesse Owens didn’t get any love from Hitler when he won four medals and he didn’t get any love from his own president (Franklin D. Roosevelt),” Harbin said. “We have the same thing here where black voters are not getting any love from Jennifer Granholm and the Democratic Party and that’s what this ad is about.”

Sure, the infusion of the Hitler persona may be somewhat over the top, but it’s not like we haven’t been exposed to political blaxploitation before….

I’m Renee Mullins, James Byrd’s daughter.
On June 7, 1998 in Texas my father was killed. He was beaten, chained, and then dragged three miles to his death, all because he was black.
So when Governor George W. Bush refused to support hate-crime legislation, it was like my father was killed all over again.
Call Governor George W. Bush and tell him to support hate-crime legislation.
We won’t be dragged away from our future.

  • NAACP television ad

Harbin said the group, despite the political flak its ad generated, has no intention of stepping back.

This woman will go far in politics.

“Hopefully, we will be able to spread the message about choice through the summer and into the general election,” she said.

Mongo said he is not working for DeVos or suggesting Detroiters vote for him.

“I’m encouraging people to make a choice. Detroit has been a one-party state for too long,” he said. “We are expected to follow the party regardless of how they treat us and don’t do anything in the city. This has nothing to do with being racist. It has to do with getting respect.”

I’m going to step out on a limb here, as I can’t find his picture, and he used the word “we”. Is Adolph Mongo black? Democrats have denounced the ad without calling him a racist. That would have happened within the hour the ad first ran.

Democrats can get as outraged as they want. They’ve been playing that race-baiting game for a long time now and like in a bad movie, the comeuppance is looming in the final reel.

But what is truly amazing to watch is the bewailing of self-righteous, lying liberals who are slowly but surely losing their grasp on the black vote, thus relevance as a political party. The Party of the Klan is becoming unhinged as their words and deeds are coming back to haunt them.

Robert Byrd, West Virginia senator and former Klan recruiter, declaring he would never fight in the armed services with a “Negro” by his side: Rather I should die a thousand times and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds.” Byrd is the senior senator on Capitol Hill.

Nothing personal against the governor of Michigan, as she’s just an innocent bystander in this latest Detroit drive-by.

When will Democrats learn that the truth always comes out? There are two hundred-plus years worth of skeletons that will one-day jump out of their closet. They will need more than the Detroit Shuffle to explain their racist history.

The times, they are a changin….
