Culture Of Corruption II
If one were dumb enough to take the mainstream media at their “word”, one would believe that the Republican Party was the equivalent of The Sopranos. “Culture of Corruption” is a cute little catch phrase, however there are always two sides to every story….
Backstabbers
For all of those who complain that conservatives just won’t leave Bill and Hillary alone, maybe the Clintons should just keep their noses clean. But once snakes, always snakes.
Hillary has been posturing herself as strong on national defense by joining a thoroughly, but strategically irrational group of ignorant Washington lawmakers who’ve opposed and essentially killed the Dubai Ports World deal. The very xenophobia they accuse others of, has been quite effective demonstrated by themselves in their own words and deeds. While China owns several cargo docks in Los Angeles and has already threatened to nuke us twice, the very United Arab Emirates that donated over $100 million for Katrina relief (to help black people), has been demonized by pontificating blowhards on Capitol Hill.
So while Hillary was bad-mouthing the Bush Administration’s approval of the deal, her husband has not only been back-dooring her (yeah, right), but the American people and the old school press has once again looked the other way. You see, Bill’s spent a considerable amount of time in the UAE, being paid handsomely for speaking engagements, as well as serving as a consultant to the very people attempting to buy the ports. I’m sure he was giving them pointers, yet if he was doing so, let’s hope he did so legally.
Apparently, Department of Justice lawyers from the Office of Legal Counsel want to know if Clinton registered as an “Agent of a Foreign Principal.” According to the American Prowler, “Federal statute requires that anyone — even a former President — doing political or public affairs work on behalf of a foreign country, agency or official must register with the Department, and essentially update his status every six months. It was not clear Clinton had done so.”
Whoops. Must be another one of those bureaucratic snafus.
So for us to believe the way this went down, which is always a dubious chore when talking about Clintons, Hillary would have to be totally in the dark as far as Bill’s trips to Dubai, as well as the ever-growing bulge in their bank accounts. In order for us to believe them, we would be talking about a scenario where Hillary’s senate staff would be doing a lot of things regarding the deal behind her back, while letting her act the fool opposing the acquisitions on the record.
“There were enough people in the Clintons’ orbit who were potentially going to be part of the deal,” says an employee of a firm that does work for both Clintons. “We were pursuing work on the ports deal, and we cleared our participation with Clinton’s office. We didn’t want there to be a conflict.”
In fact, at least two senior outside advisers to Senator Clinton were attempting to get business out of the Port Deal, and President Clinton was the go-between. Associates with the Glover Park Group, which houses just about the entire shadow staff for Hillary’s run-up to a Democratic presidential bid, were attempting to get a slice of the DPW deal before the deal was made public about three weeks ago. According to current and former President Clinton staff, Hillary Clinton’s Senate office was aware that Glover Park was in the running to do work on the DPW deal.
“She was also very much aware of President Clinton’s financial arrangements with the UAE,” says a former Bill Clinton staffer. “We’re talking about more than a million dollars, some of paid out soon out after they left the White House. That income helped the Clintons buy the properties that allow them to live both in New York and Washington, D.C. This was not an insignificant financial arrangement.”
So, both Clintons have received a whole lot of money from the United Arab Emirates for around five years now, but Hillary is seemingly stabbing them in the back opposing this deal publicly and politically.
It must be nice to have Secret Service protection, for life….
Go Stand In The Corner
In a moment that would make any radical progressive giddy, during an interview on “This Week with George Stephanopoulos,” Democrat Senator Russ Feingold said he wants the Senate to publicly scold President Bush for “approving domestic wiretaps on American citizens without first seeking a legally required court order.” This according to the ABC News website.
Okay, consider all the sources….
Unless Russ is retarded, and he isn’t (thus he’s a willing deceiver), he knows quite well that prior presidents have signed executive orders allowing them to listen in on any conversation between parties that may threaten national security without having to get a judge’s signature. Calling it “domestic wiretapping” (another strategically used catch phrase), is an insult to anyone outside the narcissistic liberal realm who has read up on the matter.
It has been revealed, to both the American people and al Qaeda (thanks to the New York Times), that the National Security Agency has been listening in on conversations of suspected terrorists abroad and their contacts within the United States. Quite frankly, the NSA has better things to do than listen to a couple of San Franciscans discussing tofu recipes, soccer moms on their cellphones describing the contents of a sale at Target, or a couple of men embellishing accounts of fictitious sexual conquests the night before. If you think the NSA cares enough about your life that they’d use those resources to listen in on your mundane conversations, you’re touching yourself.
Feingold continued, “This conduct is right in the strike zone of the concept of high crimes and misdemeanors”, and Bush had “openly and almost thumbing his nose at the American people,” in regards to what ABC is calling “the NSA domestic wiretap program.”
You know what they say when someone repeats a lie often enough….
According to the recent ABC News/Washington Post poll, President Bush’s approval rating is around 41 percent, “nearly a career low.” Talk about mass manipulation. News flash for ABC News: no matter how much you attempt to make news with polls, they really don’t matter much to Bush. He isn’t running for anything, so his approval numbers mean nothing to anyone except those who hate him.
Russ, you can call for a public scolding all you want, but it’s not like this hasn’t been going on for weeks now on college campii, liberal bookshops, Democratic Underground, Daily Kos, and any venue where liberals capable of reciting congregate. I hope George Stephanopoulos and his show gave you the bounce you need that will catapult you to becoming the Democrat presidential nominee.
Sorry, you’ll have to talk with Hillary’s people on that one first.
Russ Is Not Enough
According to Matthew Cardinale, editor of the “Atlanta Progressive News, “30 US House Representatives have signed on as sponsors or co-sponsors of H. Res 635, which would create a Select Committee to look into the grounds for recommending President Bush’s impeachment.”
“There has been massive support for House Resolution 635 from a very vigorous network of grassroots activists and people committed to holding the Bush Administration accountable for its widespread abuses of power,†US Rep. John Conyers (D-MI) said in a statement prepared for Atlanta Progressive News.”
Conyers obviously made his statement while some of his staffers were babysitting his kids, but that’s a scandal that obviously doesn’t interest the liberal media much….
“The fraudulent basis on which the President got us into the war in Iraq; the obvious criminality of the warrantless wiretapping; indefinite detention in violation of the Constitution; torture as a part of indefinite detention and other ways; special rendition and torture, which is the outsourcing of torture… All of these violate various laws of the US, and they also violate his oath office which he swears to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States, and he’s doing just the opposite, he’s undermining the Constitution and attempting to destroy certain parts of it.â€
- Bill Goodman, Center for Constitutional Rights Legal Director
I can appreciate the misplaced passion behind the claims made above. Goodman (and this is mere review for conservatives) has probably never read any of the numerous declarations by Democrats made years before George W. Bush ever set foot in the Oval Office. Declarations in which Democrats like both Clintons, Kerry, Albright, Berger, many congresspersons and senators, talked conclusively about the weapons of mass destruction they KNEW Saddam had, and some were doing some hawk talk. I’ll take it for granted he has read them, so that portion of his statement is a bold-faced lie.
We’ve already been over the wiretap thing.
Has Mr. Goodman said anything publicly about the Muslim terrorists who’ve done a little bit of indefinite detention after kidnapping? Probably not.
David Swanson, Washington DC Director of ImpeachPAC bragged to APN “At least eight US cities, including Arcata, Santa Cruz, and San Francisco, each in California; and Brookfield, Dummerston, Marlboro, Newfane, and Putney, each in Vermont, have passed resolutions calling for Bush’s impeachment. The recent city resolutions in Vermont have directly led to US Rep. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) having signed H. Res 635 on March 09, 2006.”
I sincerely hope that these cities and towns don’t assume the resolutions aren’t some kind of insurance policy with al Qaeda. Columnist Molly Ivins goes nuts when anyone accuses liberals of being on the side of the terrorists, although it’s hard to find them using anything near the negative language towards al Qaeda they reserve for President Bush. Just because these municipalities want to see Bush impeached doesn’t alter the fact that these townships are still infested with infidels, liberal infidels, and the New Koran makes no distinction. Given the opportunity, terrorists wouldn’t think twice about setting off a WMD in San Francisco.
“One of the big stories here is the town resolutions helped someone sign on the resolution that could move us in the direction of impeachment. Even though getting your city or town to pass a resolution doesn’t legally force the house to impeach, it can compel your congress member to get on board,†Swanson said.
Here’s a great line by Swanson that tells us exactly what we’re dealing with here. He talks about Bob Fertik of Democrats.com, who he considers one of the most prominent citizen activists on this issue. “Bob has been pushing for impeachment since Gore won the election. This is Bob’s moment now after five years.â€
Moving right along….
While his office reportedly didn’t provide a statement about H. Res 635, “Sanders stopped short of saying he would introduce outright articles of impeachment, saying citizens should focus on getting Republicans out of power in the 2006 election if they want to end Bush’s disastrousness. Signing H. Res 635 indicates Sanders’ support for a more exploratory investigation.”
In other words, Sanders is a coward who can do and say things that will appease his kook base, yet is afraid to reveal his fingerprints on the resolution to the nation at large. Congressman Michael Capuano (D-MA) also signed the bill but his office “did not immediately return calls from Atlanta Progressive News.” This really is about the Democrat reacquisition of power and payback for the impeachment of Bill Clinton.
“Over 14% of US House Democrats now support the impeachment probe; almost 7% of all US House Representatives now support the probe. In December 2005, there were 231 Republicans in the US House, 202 Democrats, 1 Independent, and 1 vacancy, a clerk for the US House of Representatives told Atlanta Progressive News.”
The best represented states on H. Res 635 are California (7), New York (6), Massachusetts (3), Georgia (2), Minnesota (2), and Wisconsin (2).
The current 30 total co-sponsors are Rep. Neil Abercrombie (D-HI), Rep. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), Rep. Michael Capuano (D-MA), Rep. Lois Capps (D-CA), Rep. William Lacy Clay (D-MO), Rep. John Conyers (D-MI), Rep. Sam Farr (D-CA), Rep. Maurice Hinchey (D-NY), Rep. Mike Honda (D-CA), Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee (D-TX), Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA), Rep. John Lewis (D-GA), Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), Rep. Jim McDermott (D-WA), Rep. Cynthia McKinney (D-GA), Rep. Gwen Moore (D-WI), Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), Rep. James Oberstar (D-MN), Rep. John Olver (D-MA), Rep. Major Owens (D-NY), Rep. Donald Payne (D-NJ), Rep. Charles Rangel (D-NY), Rep. Martin Sabo (D-MN), Rep. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL), Rep. Fortney Pete Stark (D-CA), Rep. John Tierney (D-MA), Rep. Nydia Velazquez (D-NY), Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA), and Rep. Lynn Woolsey (D-CA).”
Funny, I don’t recall seeing this bunch prominently reported on the evening news. One would think that this many politicians voting on initiating impeachment proceedings would be a big deal.
But this is a big deal.
Democrats and their parrot fringe have long sought to do what they can’t do at the ballot box: take back control of the House and Senate. They are also presently plotting the greatest voter disenfranchisement scheme in American history.
Are we paying attention now…?
