Disappointment In Denver

While I seldom mix sports with politics, most of you know I’m a New England Patriots fan and have been proud of their run that ended last Saturday night at the hands of the Denver Broncos.

However, I’m more elated at the demise of the Indianapolis Colts. While the Patriots have, for the most part, displayed humility in their role as “underdog”, the Colts have always taken their anointing as the upper crust of the NFL with an arrogance that begged their ouster early in the tournament.

Whether it be kicker Mike Vanderjagt’s ill-timed comments during their previous two playoff appearances, or receiver Marvin Harrison’s poor declaration last year that the league should just start making their rings before being beaten once again by New England, the Colts are learning the hard way that to be a champion, one must act like one. Vanderjagt’s missed potentially game-tying field goal was poetic justice for a team that needs to win on the field, not just in their minds.

As a Patriots fan, I’ve never been caught up in the Manning mystique. Patriarch Archie Manning was a mediocre quarterback for less-than-mediocre teams. Payton inherited a talented squad in Indy but is now learning what it’s like to be Dan Marino: all those records and no ring to show for it. Eli has my least amount of respect (zero), as he chose not to go to the team that drafted him (San Diego) because they weren’t good enough for him.

Many first-round draft picks have gone to the team that picked them. The rationale is that a good player going to a lousy team should make them better. It worked for Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, and it could have worked for Eli. I hope he enjoys his stay with the New York Giants….

The Pittsburgh Steelers, like the Patriots of the last two years, used solid play and not words to beat the Indianapolis Colts, and for that I salute them.

Television Show

I just finished editing my latest “Black & Right” program that addressed some of the untaught history regarding the Democrats being the “Party of Civil Rights” and the Republicans being the racists academia, the media, and liberals fraudulently accuse them of being.

I’ve never done this before, but if you would like a copy of the DVD, please send a check or money order for $15 (which will cover tax and shipping) to:

AOTV
163 South Main Street
Athol, Massachusetts 01331

AOTV is a non-profit, cable access television station. You may wish to request having this program aired on your local cable access channel, that is, if they embrace “free speech” as they claim….

I hope you enjoy it as I’ve been waiting to do this particular program for a long time.
